Richard Scott Blog - 11th January 2026

Monday I decided to finally do the "I ❤️ Johannesburg" Hand Embellished Print for chef Michael at Saint in Johannesburg.

There she is: "My Golden Johannesburg".

Stocktake.

Chad popped in early Monday morning, and caught up with Joanne.

At 12pm, Sean and Michelle came for a studio tour. Sean is the man I am partnering with for the Dubai show in April.

After the studio tour we all lunched at Melkbos Kitchen and went over the plans for Dubai.

Myself, Joanne, Sean and Michelle.

After lunch we went home and chilled on the deck with some backgammon.

Tuesday morning, I asked Joanne if we can chill at home. We both hit the garden. We both only made it to 11am as were itching to drive up the west coast the Roster Koek Pad Stal and buy Craig a few goodies for his birthday Thursday.

We made some mushroom and veg soup. All ingredients from the garden bar the mushrooms.

Wednesday Joanne popped into work for a few hours to get the Craig Schneider Mediation engine running for 2026.

Sending Angelina my morning Pic.

I stayed home as the Maids were in and Hendrik offered to come in and cut the grass and clean up a little around the house. I did pop out to POSTNET to post off two packages and then some food shopping and then Melkbos Hardware for some bits and bobs on Hendrik’s shopping list.

I have this bad habit of putting stuff on the floor in my path, so I don't forget to do it or buy it etc. It works.

I also popped to the pole yard to get some stakes as the tomato plants are going wild, so they need staking.

The big overhanging canopy tree also needs some attention. It’s leaning over to much, so I got some advice on how to stake it and using a ratchet to hold it in position and slowly bring it back to where it once was.

Joanne had a few errands to run and came home around 3pm with some yummy fish and other goodies from SPAR in Oranjesicht. The smoked salmon is the best ever. We had supper on the deck and ate up all the goodies. Then it was an early night as Joanne was working again Thursday.

Thursday was my first day back into town and a kinda work day. Joanne was working the morning, so I went in with her and decided to run some errands.

First was Mervyn Gers to check in on the vase I finished off last year.

Our Beautiful Cape Town. I popped into Atlas Trading in Bo Kaap before heading to Mervyn.

Looking good so far.

Then I popped into Deckle edge for some Copic Acrylic pens for future Cape Town and Johannesburg artworks.

Danilo is in town, so I popped in to see him. It was great to catch up and talk Church and Lugano and Milan and Sardinia. I said goodbye and was off to pick up Joanne.

The man himself. Our good friend Danilo.

Yes, they finally cleaned up the street in front of The Church.

This artwork gave me an idea. Watch this space.

Joanne was running an hour late, so I set up shop in the boardroom and did some work. Craig popped in and I wished him happy birthday then we were off.

We decided to pop over the neck and go see John, Theresa and Marika. As usual everyone was in great spirits, and we caught up and made art plans for 2026.

Got the pic with John.

40 km Max.

Then it was off to see Henry at Sea Point Art Gallery, but he was out so we popped into Sea Point SPAR for some yummy lunch. They make the best Jewish food, and it’s become a thing every time we’re passing. Dolmades, kosher hake fingers, potatoe latkes, mushroom bourekas, sun-dried tomatoes, green mammoth olives and roasted pepper humus.

Then we popped into see Scratch and Dent in the Waterfront to get a quote for the scratch I made on the Toyota, ironically at the waterfront last year. Then Farber’s coach works for a 2nd quote and then the annual check-up and clean at the dentist and oral Hygienist. All good on the tooth front and off to see the bank manager. All in a day's work. We only got home at 7pm. Good job our tummies were full.

Friday was a blur all the way to Sunday as I was not well. We stayed at home all weekend and I started to read that Elon Musk book. Quite interesting. I did not realise he started Space X before Tesla. Hmmmmm.

Misty morning.

Check this one of a kind Richard Scott Key-ring collection of all the girls.

So, until next week.

Thank you for reading.
