Monday morning, I woke up at 4.30 as it was almost light in Ballito, Durban.
In half an hour the sun was as coming through the clouds. It was overcast and the sun struggling to make its way up through the clouds made the view spectacular.

Our view for 5 days.
We had the luxury of staying in Snow’s top story penthouse apartment with the keys to a Mercedes 500SL. Say no more.

Our car for 5 days.

Our food for 5 days :). Snow made us a Lamb pie which was delicious. Best ever.
We woke up slowly as we were kinda on a holiday, but you know how that goes with Joanne and I always on call and in 24hr business mode.
I made us a coffee and Joanne made us a yummy simple breakfast on the deck. Then we were off to the beach to catch some waves and sun, all day long.
Tuesday e were up early, coffee, catch up on work, swim in the sea and enjoy the penthouse.
Then we popped out to do some sigh seeing and little business down south.

Me and my beautiful wife and soulmate. Traveling the world together.

Got the photo of Umhlanga Lighthouse.

My print i did way back in 2014. 12 years ago,

Me and my lighthouse. Perhaps a self-portrait in the making?

Popped in to see Rajen Pillay from Art and Framed in Umhlanga. He is a big fan of my work.

Then we headed south to the centre of Durban itself. It was looking a little run down. I took a photo outside The Lion Match Box Company as I use their product in my Circular Series.

Match Box Girls.

Then we headed back to see Snow at have a tour of his offices and setup. It was very impressive. Snow offered us a curry lunch cook by his chefs. We were served Chicken Curry and Mutton Curry for the canteen and it was delicious. I only got to get a picture of Frank the sous chef.

Got to see some of the cool graffiti in Snow's office. Here is a cool on with mirrors in the bathroom. Very clever.
Wednesday morning was a repeat of Monday and Tuesday with coffee, swim in the ocean and light breakfast.
We headed off to the Lifestyle Centre to have a look see and some lunch.

Got the thrifting photo for Angelina.

And another.

Like I said, touring the world with my beautiful wife Joanne and eating good food.

Remember last week we went to go see David and Diana, the sugarcane and macadamia nut farmer. Well David called up and asked where we were and he generously popped into the restaurant and gave us the macadamia nuts he forgot to give s Sunday. Super cool. NOMM NOMM.
We had lunch with a very old collector Clayton Roberts.
It was great to see him again. I booked York Oki, on Snows advice, in the Lifestyle centre. The food was good and the company even better.

Meet Clayton. An old collector of my work 20 years back.
I use to sell a lot of art back in the day out of a gallery called imbizo. Nonetheless it was good to meet and catch up with Clayton. Clayton bought two works from me back in 2005, 21 years ago. The two works are gonna come back to my studio for some restoration.
After lunch we wondered over to a local Ballito gallery to see if they were keen to represent me in the area. I will revert.
Then we went on a treasure hunt to find the best bunny chow to fill us up even more. Clayton suggested a small hole in the wall at the Engen petrol station around the corner, so we went looking. We eventually found it after 20 minutes and ordered 1/4 One as we just ate at Yori Oki. We took the ¼ bunny chow home to the penthouse and it was delicious.

Hole in the wall.

Tastes delicious.
After that and tummies full ,we chilled a little and caught up with the world.
By now it was 4pm and we had another curry dinner arranged at The Salt Rock Hotel, also with an old client Vivek Maharaj.

Salt Rock-ing.
Vivek treaded us to a great chicken curry and a mutton curry. It was great to meet and connect with him. Then we were off home to an early night.

The man himself, Vivek.
Thursday morning, I woke up early enough to see the sunrise. 4.45am. It was the first decent sunrise we saw all week as it was a little overcast every morning.

Finally, a sunny day.
We were scheduled to fly out to Johannesburg at 1.30pm so I got up, made us a coffee and we climbed into the warm jacuzzi one last time with a good Starbucks homemade Nespresso coffee. Then we headed to the beach: The sea was rough again but we enjoyed a good hour swim.
Then it was time to head back to the penthouse and eat breakfast, pack and make a few traveling arrangements.
I dropped off the 500SL and then Snow took us to King Shaka airport.

My new best friend. LOL. Snow kindly dropping us off at King Shaka Airport.
I’m actually typing this to you right now at 10000 ft on route to Johannesburg.
We have a lot planned over the next few days. The flight went well and we headed straight to out AirBnB, not before buying some simple supplies like tomatoes, bread, yogurt etc.
Dimitri and Sasha invited us to their home on Thursday night for a tradition Greek super. It was great to see them and the family. We were spoilt.

Dimitri reminding me of the reject piece he bought from me years ago.

Loving the artwork of his. A small Greek Church series.

Dimitri's rendition of us. Two artists.
Friday morning, I was were still in Ballito 4am get up mode. We managed to squeeze it to 5.30 and go up and enjoyed a lekker coffee on the deck of our Sandton AirBnB home.

My desk in Sandton. Morning.
We had a long day ahead of us. First stop to go see my newest collector, founder of King Price insurance in Pretoria.

The man himself. Gideon. What a powerhouse and what an office space. Oh, and the King on the right of course.

A cool professional photo. Gideon runs all sorts of projects and on this day there was a Wellness pop-up in his space.
Second stop as Jean from Black Tie Rentals. Jean is my number one collector of all my merchandised the likes.

3D girls in good company.

Spot the Scott's.

Jean had these gold stencils framed beautifully.

Quick but in the trendy Hazelwood precinct. Meet Jean, owner of Black Tie Rentals in Pretoria.
After lunch we headed back to our little Sandton Home.

Quick stop off to do a coffee with friend and collector Desan Naidoo.

Our home also had a Jacaranda tree outside. How fitting.
Richie arrived to meet us and then we were off to Saint restaurant. Michael is the head chef and a collector of my art. More importantly a brilliant chef. He heads up Saint for David Higgs. We ordered and ate like kings.

Good food, great view and happy family.

Richie with his favourite Pepperoni Pizza.

I got permission from David to take some used menus for my Circular Series.

Remember this one from 2024.

Head Chef Michael.

Loving the wallpaper.
After that we headed back to the AirBnB. Richie joined us at the Air BnB, for the night as we booked a 2 bedroom.
Saturday we were up and Joanne made Richie and I a yummy full breakfast to keep us going all day. Richie headed off to the airport for work while we checked out and got going as well.
First stop was a collector of my work Tony Imbrolio.

Tony has this piece in his collection on show in his offices.
Here is a link to the story: Click Here
After Tony we popped into to Tyrone Selmore for Eye Art and had a lekker catch up.

The man himself Tyrone Selmore. One of my career soundboards.
Then a quick hello to my famous artist friend Anton Smit. What a legend. It took us a hour to get there, but i wanted to show Joanne his Sculpture park in Bronkhorstspruit.

Got the photo.

And the one at the second entrance.

The man himself Anton Smit. Arguably South Africa's most prolific sculpture.

Say no more. Very inspiring.
Then we were off home to the airport. Drop the rental, check in, hit the lounge, eat the yummy and best SLOW lounge food bubbles.

Lounge life. Catching myself sending Richie photos of AIRLINK Aeroplane's as he is a pilot with them now.
We boarded and here I am again at 10000 feet typing to you. Did you know all aviation measuring come from the day of ships and boating. Richie was telling me this on Friday night that they work in imperial miles and feet in aviation and not in the metric km system. I did not know that.
We landed at 9pm and Uber’d home by 10pm. No early night Saturday.
Sunday was nice to wake up in your own bed. We ran on the beach and did Sunday stuff.

Veggie Garden looking good.

Our first onion in 5 years.

Huge lettuce leaf.

Foraging for Garlic.

Sunday Studio check. All good. Getting ready to hang these new Muizenberg Beach Hut artworks.
Thank you for reading and viewing.
