Richard Scott Weekly Blog - 13th September 2026

Right, its Monday morning 10am and I decided to keep this document open and type daily to you as most weeks I only do the blog from memory and photos on my phone. Which is bad of me as it’s not a true reflection of the moment. So banking is done and invoices sent out. I did a nice little restoration for Carl Smyth last week. It was a 2002 Orange Bushes work. To be honest I don’t’ remember painting them and weirdly enough it had a name and year but no code. Did you know I only started coding my art in 2006. As and when these works come across my path I do code them. So, this little 30 x 30 piece got the number 0058.

Last Sunday Lunch "Richard Scott" famous 5 x Cape Malay Curries. 1. Briani, Garam, Tikka Chicken, Butter Chicken and Lentil and corn leaf Masala.

So now its 10.05am and I am gonna finish off that Bronze presentation I spoke of in last week's blog. I have given myself today as a deadline to get it done.

Oh, and two other cool things happened today on this glorious sunny 7^th September. My dad turned 84 and my son started his new job as a commercial airline pilot. HA!

Tuesday Hendrik cut up the Muizenberg Beach Hut wood, assembled and varnished phase three of the Muizenberg series.

I also got that football shirt done for Paul at Colmant. I won’t post a pic as it's for a gift for someone.

Wednesday, I finished the new lighthouse work I wanted to modify. I also finished the first of the surfers in the Muizenberg series. I still want to add in the background with beach huts, sea and mountain.

I was on google earth checking something and noticed they have updated there images of the house from space. You can see the swimming pool art piece even better now. How cool.

SPOT THE SCOTT!

Thursday I decided to work on the Worm Farm idea I have with the wood from the Beach Huts. I sketched up my plan and Hendrik and I went at it. We spent the whole day cutting and sanding and screwing the pieces together. It came out really well. There are 3 layers and a roof. The bottom layer will be waterproof with fiberglass and have a slight slope to the tap. The tap is there to open up and allow the worm juice (or urine) to be collected. That then gets watered down and added to the garden or indoor plants as fertilizer.

The second tier is where the worms live and the third tier is where you add you the scraps that the worms come up every now and again and feed.

The roof is there to insulate and keep the worms warm. And best of all, the worms get to stay in their own Muizenberg Beach Hut. Hee Hee.

Loving the final product. It really really worked out so well. It ticked off so many boxes. Do you want one as they will be for sale shortly?

Angelina popped in to drop off a few bits and pieces and we had lunch together and caught up.

Like I said, Friday was the same. It was a lot of fun to get my hands working again.

Achim Spelling sent me this image of his home in Munich. I remember doing this piece and I remember being in his kitchen. Cool memories.

Henry, from Sea Point Gallery, popped in and came to see the new works. He was like a kid in a Candy Store. It was good to see him and he stayed for two hours.

After that, Joanne and I chilled on the deck and started our weekend. It was chilly, but sunny enough to sit outside and enjoy our view and each other’s company.

Saturday we popped out to Tygervalley of all places. We wanted to see if the shops there were any different to where we normally buy clothes. It was a good drive out. We were successful as the shops were different. 

We were both craving Sushi, so we got some after a quick pop in to Builders Warehouse. I needed some stainless steel mesh for the bottom of the worm farm tiers. I was unsuccessful, so will try online now. (Sunday Afternoon) I will share a photo with you of how the mesh looks and works.

Saturday night we accidentally left the blinds open in the bedroom. It ended up been the right decision as we were treated to a magnificent lightning storm over the sea.

It’s Sunday now and I am sitting in front of the fire typing to you, while Joanne is catching up with her admin.

I also need to get stuck into a little bit before I get to Sunday Lazy.
