Richard Scott Blog - 2 November 2025

Monday we managed to get the majority of the Shombie’s Bus WhatsApp charity auction catalogue done. I spent most of my day on that and also printing out some Elephant Bull prints for Ignatius Marx.

Ignatius having supper with us and him giving me some advice on my Mini-Bronzes that I am launching soon.

Want one? Richard Scott Pool Pillows.

Random studio photo of the Graffiti Circular works in studio.

Tuesday the gold stencils got another few coats of gold spray paint. Joanne managed to help me respond to Universal Framers in Johannesburg who charged me R48 000 for framing and all the frames are falling apart and the artwork is damaged beyond repair as they allegedly used inferior products and workmanship on the frames. Our local framer in Cape Town was gob smacked with the workmanship after they dismantled them. I don’t need this in my life, but some people are so pathetic.  Just own up and pay.

Zoomed in photo of my laptop screen preparing a stencil piece.

Frans coating the gold stencils with layer 15.

Slowly getting there, layer by layer.

Wednesday was building the other two catalogues up with Chad for the Sabrina Love WhatsApp auction and the Melkbos Care Centre event as well. Angelique popped in as well to have a catch up on her new venture and a new collector Raymond also popped in for a quick studio tour and a few purchases.

I got stuck into editing another photo of an elephant bull that we are printing for Ignatius. He also popped in again in the afternoon to pick up the lily pastel we photographed for him as well.

Ignatius Marx, Elephant Bull. Available soon and there are only 7 prints available.

Frans helping us take the perfect photo of this typical Ignatius Marx piece. Also coming soon and also only 7 prints available.

The master himself showing us how to fix a pastel piece with your pinkie.

Can't get me more interested and focussed than this.

Galerie Soul of Africa in Munich posting a pic of a new happy Richard Scott collector. It always starts small and slowly infects you.

I got some salmon going for a late lunch with Joanne and we scoffed it with the left over sweet potatoe fries from the night before.

Then we got stuck into a bit of admin, before an early night.

Thursday was town and lots of people.

I dropped Joanne and headed to SHIFT for a coffee and some banking. Last day of the month stuff. Then I headed off to Deckle Edge to get some Copic pens for the new “I Love You” series I’m busy with.

Then time to drop off a print at Ilios for approval. And then a quick check in at Mervyn Gers to check the ceramics.

1 year in and still learning. Tuesday next week we start the manufacturing process now that I have learnt all my mistakes.

Haste makes waste. I left this one too long.

I agreed to meet up with Daniel at Urban Men to show him the way to go with a haircut. I introduced him to Yousef, and the rest is history. Now I’m sitting in the salon typing this to you.  I’m gonna leave around 1 to go fetch Joanne.

Meet Yousef at URBAN MEN, De Waterkant, my personal hair stylist and groomer. Now Daniels as well.

Meet the new Daniel.

A collector in Ohio, USA sent me this photo of their Richard Scott's all framed up and hanging.

Just loving doing these.

And another. These are done with Copic pens.

I LOVE YOU!

Friday was a work from home day for Joanne. I got up really early as it was month end and a Friday to boot so that spelt admin and emails. I catalogued a few pieces for a charity auction and then Joanne and I popped out to meet Aimee at The Diamond Works to talk diamonds and tourism and collaboration.

Me and my beautiful wife, soulmate and best friend having coffee before our meeting.

We came home and decided to have a “Car in the Garage” weekend and try do nothing.

That went well for us. We did do beach runs Friday and Saturday. We got stuck back into our Backgammon on the deck and Joanne thrashed me 3-0. I need to up my game.

Saturday lunch was all as a result of Joanne watching too much Jamie Oliver. BEFORE.

After.

We have too much spinach and celery harvested from the garden, so Joanne opted to make some juice.

Another cool post by the Gallery in Munich, Germany.

Sunday we decided to walk into Melkbos (7km) and walk back and go do some shopping. The walk did us well and we came up with a few new ideas to help others.

South African, standard government loaf. Best bread in the whole world. And you need one for Joanne's famous Bunny Chow.

Sunday lunch. South Africa's staple diet. Bread and curry.

So now it is time to chill after a yummy Bunny chow lunch and having kept the car in the garage.

Thank you for reading and viewing.

Until next week.

Monday we woke up to no electricity, so I checked in with Juanita, the neighbour, and she was also out. Joanne found out they were working on the sub-stations. 1-3 days. So DO NOT OPEN the fridge. 😊.   Cool...

The wind was still blowing Monday which made it rather difficult outside while the guys were bubble wrapping the large construction and wine barrel works that were going off to Greyton for this weekend’s annual Greyton art walk.  I did...

    Richard Scott Blog - 23rd November 2025

On Monday, Hendrik and I decided to take down the front door and varnish it. You probably know the back of the front door has a huge powder-blue Tammy on it. So, it is quite a delicate operation as the...
