Monday morning, I had a quick coffee with Tobie. He wanted some more stickers. Then I came home and convinced Reinhard to buy the Czech girls for his partner, so I had to drive into town to drop them off. I took Reinhard to Zuney for the best burger in Cape Town. Then it was home on the Vespa to catch up in the studio.

The ever-funny Tobie. Tobie was the guy who got me to Paint Mandy on his Vespa.

End of year stock take. These are the pigments I use to make my paint.

How much is that Decanter in the window. Creating new content for Social Media.

How much is that 3-D print in the window? The one with Yellow and Green. Go on, keep singing.

Lastly

Reinhard and my tummy's full. Nomm Nomm.

Ahead of time.

Yes, 2021, 4 years ago.
Tuesday we woke up to the news of Artist Warren Voight passing. He was a very talented artist that was part of the Greyton Art Walk.

Warren Voight painting of Greyton main road crossing. It is beautiful.
I woke up with a sore throat. Blah Blah Blah. As I sit here Friday typing to you I still have it. But Hey Ho, as Uncle Stuart says, at least I can function and work. And work I did, I Vespa’d into town to get it serviced for the season but realised it only had 26 000km on and the next service was at 30 000km. Nonetheless I had to go into town as Joanne, and I were going to Chad's University to pay for 2026 semester and celebrate with a lunch as he got 3 distinctions. So, I left my Vespa at Woodstock Brewery and Ubered back to Joanne to get in the Toyota and head out to pick up Chad and then Stellenbosch.

Buy Joanne.

Diamond works did a post on their visit to my studio. I will post the link and photos at the bottom.
After registering we walked over the road and had a bite to eat with George and Martinus at Pane Vino. George, as you know is the owner, and Marthinus is the Chef at Jordan Wines. It was great to have lunch with them both.

Got the pic. The wonderful George of Dalla Cia. He gives the best hugs.

Words cannot describe the taste. Veal and porcini and mash.

Meet the famous Martinus.
We were then off home for an early night as our tummies were full.
Wednesday my throat was still sore. I medicated myself up and got on with it. I managed to start the Cobra print. And decided to finally figure out how to do the Magenta Tree I have been wanting to print for 5 years. Yes, 5 Years.

Computer mock-ups.
So, I googled the solution, and it was quite easy actually. The image on my screen was Magenta, but the printer has an automatic colour management system and decides for you. All you have to do is disable that in the print dialog box and pump up the Magenta and Brightness. It is a real beauty. Definitely my favourite print of all time. I have decided to edition them to 47.

Print day.

My Magenta Tree, finally.

My Pink Tree - Available online.

Last week with Karien.

Spot the difference.

My camera roll.
Joanne came home early and we made a nice supper and played cards and watched a movie.

Two jokers and Joanne still beat me.

Wolschey sent me this Wednesday afternoon. Spot the Richard Scott t-shirts.
Thursday I went into town with Joanne, sore throat and all. Actually, I had a coughing fit when I woke up and couldn’t believe what was in my lungs and chest.
Nonetheless, I dropped Joanne and drove to Henry to drop off the first Magenta Tree print and then headed to Mervyn Gers to drop off some end of year gifts for the guys.

This beautiful piece is for re-sale in Henry's Gallery.

Yeah, the clay machine is working again.
I had an hour so i got a hair cut and then it was off to see Les of The High Road Wine farm and have a catch up and an end of year cheerio. We ended up at Pane Vino, twice in one week for both of us. It was great to see Les and talk business and shoot the breeze.

Always great to see Les.

SOLD

In Les's boardroom.
All of this on the Vespa. Cape Town on the N2 to Stellenbosch, then N1 – R300 – N7 Home. I was stuffed by the time I got home.
I got home just in time to meet and host Greg for a studio Tour. Greg was the main contributor on the Melkbos Care Centre WhatsApp auction last Thursday night.
Joanne came home and we caught up with some admin and wrapped a few gifts to give out to work colleagues, etc.

A Johannesburg Collector sent me this photo while he was lunching at Chorus. It's a collaborative piece I did with Bertus Basson way back when.

This piece was also made specifically for Chorus restaurant.

This is a piece owned by a collector in Johannesburg. It's called Traffic Jam. Here is a link to the whole story: Click Here.
Friday, sorry to go on, but my throat was still killing me. Blah blah blah. Once again I medicated myself and got on with some admin.
It was the last day for the guys to work, and we were closing for the year and Festive Season. I briefed the guys and then got on with payments and banking.

Wayne sent me this pic in Johannesburg. Love it. Taking over the world slowly.
Then Chad came over as I needed the Caddy for pick-ups. I first went and renewed the Caddy license at the traffic department. When is South Africa ever gonna get into the 1st world with this kinda stuff. To wait two hours and then it only takes 5 minutes. Very Sad. Do you know how much money I can make in two hours.
Then I was off to Colmant Wine Farm to drop off a painting and pick up some Colmant bubbles for the festive season. It was great to see Paul's wife Berna.
Then I was off to The High Road Wine to pick up 3 spent wine barrels for a client in Johannesburg.

Got the stash.

Best Italian in Cape Town.
Then all the way back home via Dala to pick up some paint and pigment supplies. I bumped into Keven the owner and we caught up and also spoke about his late brother Barry. Barry was the man who helped me develop the famous Richard Scott Acrylic paint back in 2003.
Keven was in good spirits, and it was great to see him and catch up, strangely enough at the years end.

Dala have been good to me from day one.

Kevin was telling me how they took over the building next door and created a passage way between the buildings. Kevin aptly called it Barry Alley in memory of his late brother.
Then I came home around 4pm after a long day on the road and got stuck into blogging. Joanne arrived home after 6pm. She had her hair done and also needed to pop out to buy gifts for Saturday's Baby shower with Louise.
Supper was bread and oil and then potter around the house.
Saturday was up late for a change. Both Joanne and I were knackered from the week and we're now officially both on leave. Yeah, let's see how long that lasts. Joanne had Louise's baby shower at The One and Only nogal, and I had a list like this:
- Check for leads on Instagram and other
- Mix gold paint
- Pay four invoices
- Create three invoices for sales from yesterday
- Put wine barrels in garage
- Remember to eat
- Add the studio tour to Shopify
- Work a little on the Cobra Car print
- Call Jock, Craig, Frik and Tony.
-
Prep the studio for the 11am Studio Tour.

Mixing gold paint for a new piece. I have not done this is a while.

Satisfying. It is real gold.

Every drop counts.

Whizzzzzzzzz.

It looks so good, you just want to eat it.
Today Sunday 14th December is my 57th Birthday. I will post photos next week.
Thanks for reading and watching.
