This week's blog is in photo format. Joanne and I are currently flying home after a three week stint that took us to Scotland, North and South of England, through two big German cities and tens of towns and then through Austria and on to Switzerland, only to fly home from Italy.
So here goes:

Last Sundays bus drive from Munich to Lugano through the alps and more.

Beautiful clear rivers.
Had to get the sign post photo.

Some more beautiful photos of the landscape on our journey. The photo does not do the scenery any justice.
The bus we took, which only cost R800 for both of us, dropped us off at a strange location. We managed to get hold of Danilo as the sim cards had yet to register with the Swiss Telco’s. This couple asked for help. It’s amazing how many times we were asked for help on our journey. Anyway, they asked us where the train station was, and Danilo did the good Samaritan thing and dropped them off. They were from Munich and doing a seven day tour of Lugano.
Our view for five days. Danilo made us a nice simple supper, and it was catch up time over supper.
Monday we were up early and doing some work as we do. Here are a few photos of my art dotted around. First one is the most important, stickers on the laptop.
Some Cans amongst some amazing art. The Gift by Man Ray - 1921

Some Dinkies getting a small place of their own, also amongst some important art.
Candy Ana sits proudly in the kitchen. The most important room in an Italian home.

Danilo came to fetch us at the flat and we went to check out his work space and had a walk around the town centre and to see the lake.

Then we went for a nice lunch at one of Danilo’s favourite little Italian spots; Pane E Pomodoro. Stefano, a Swiss art dealer, joined us for lunch to chat about art and more importantly the future of my career.
Joanne ordered the squid. It was so soft and tender.
Danilo ordered me the Arrabbiata. He knows I like my pasta simple.
Old friends and new friends. Great to see and spend time with Danilo and meet and chat art to Stefano.
Danilo was not to happy I asked him to ask the manager for a menu to take home to put in the “I LOVE LUGANO” painting

Refection’s.
Not sure how old this olive tree is. I am guessing 200 years.
Stefano agreed to take me to the local art shop: LA CORNICE.
I met the owner who helped me select and buy paint to do a few pieces while I was in Lugano.
Seems like SPAR is popping up everywhere.
After the art shop, Stefano took us to see Andrea at Perseo Foundry, just outside Lugano. There was a beautiful original Salvador Dali Bronze just standing right there.
Beautiful. Can you recognize the artist?

Chatting shop to Andrea Ziino and Stefano at Perseo Foundry.
He can cast a 1.5meter bronze in one go. He showed me all the processes they follow. Very very very cool to meet such transparent people. I always said transparency is the number one key to success in business.
More shop talk.

Transparency is key. This is a 8 meter high bronze sculpture.

Stefano dropped us off at home and Ana came to visit. She and Danilo took a walk with us to the church 50meters form Danilos flat.

Always beautiful architecture.
There are over a dozen of these beautiful artworks depicting the crucifixion and death and return of Christ.

Sun Dial.

Got the photo of Joanne and I and the view.
Nomm Nomm, Danilo’s favourite bread getting ready for the oven then for supper.

Tuesday morning, Stefano offered to take us to see a local guy who deconstructs sneakers and rebuilds them to your unique specification.
They introduced me to a famous Lugano artist called HON TRAN. We connected on Instagram and also swapped numbers.
Tuesday we decided to take a walk down to the lake from the flat. It was a 40 minute walk. We noticed no people walking on the streets. The only Graffiti we saw in Lugano.

Quiet roads.

Spot the Swimming pool.
Joanne bought us a gelato. She had coffee and chocolate, and I had Vanilla and Pistachio.

Beautiful flowers overlooking the lake.

We took a long walk all the way to the river mouth.

We ran out of data so we kinda figured out how to get back to Danilo and Toku Ramen restaurant for a light lunch.
Cute ice-cream.
Getting cool photos.

Self Portrait.
Danilo took the time to give us a nice long walk through the town and the markets. These Cherries caught my eye as they are my favourite fruit.
Gorgeous Tomatoes.

We ordered a slice of Torta Di Pane. Google it.
Cool PRADA window shop window.

Is this the next Maurizio Cattelan? Google him as well.
Taking time out with friends.

Ver beautiful Church, S. Maria Degli Angeli. Built between 1499 and 1515.
A different church. I still find it amazing that people painted like this all them years ago.
Joanne doing her prayers.

Last Supper.
A photo for Neil Jewel.
We got home and I did some more artworks.

And another one on a packet made from Egg Shells to keep your cheese fresh.
We decided to have supper at the local pizza down the road. So, we took a walk.
Danilo invited some friends, and we shared some traditional Italian pizza and some Swiss dish of potatoes and melted cheese. Me paying for my supper.

Wednesday was up and go go go. We wanted to do some tourist stuff. First was nice lunch with Enrico, a big collector of my art in Lugano.
When in cape town you have to go up , or down, of the cable way, so we decided to do the obvious, the vernacular.
Making memories.
The view was spectacular.

Joanne, my wife, and the love of my life.

Thursday was a public holiday in Switzerland, so it was chill and then head out to see Enrico and his family for a South African Braai.
Getting lost; Me, Anna, Joanne and our driver: Danilo.
Good old directions on the wall.
The new Swiss braai master.

Another great view.
Nomm Nomm. Swiss steak and chicken.

Helping Enrico to find the correct wall.

Chilling with the kids.
Drawing on Anna’s jeans, to add value.

The famous Richard Scott Cat.
Enrico and his family and friends made us feel at home.

Being dad again. It took me a while to win her confidence over.

One of three artworks I did on a Lugano Bin Liner.
Another one.
This piece I did on the box that had the Gold Ana in. I carried it all the way from Cape town to England to Germany to Austria to Switzerland.

Back home in Cape Town on the beach.

Good health Sunday lunch with the kids.
Until Next Sunday
