Richard Scott Weekly Blog - 7th June 2026

I was super energised this whole week. Even on Monday morning Joanne was asking what is making me buzz. I’m not sure. I have so much on my plate right now, from the small to big bronzes to the ceramic vases to some exciting projects in Plettenberg Bay.

So, I saw Joanne off at 6am and got stuck into banking. I went down to the studio early and did some diary sketches and prepped the guys for the week.

I re-wrote my entire daily diary update list from Projects to Leads to TO-DO lists to clients and sales and even personal stuff I need to get to. It was after all the 1st of June and officially winter in Cape Town. It is getting chilly here now.

Ana in the making.

Mandy, in 4 layers. I was doing the math with Richie and each layers is 3.5 litres. So that's a total of 14 litres if we go solid bronze. Somewhere around 150kg. Eeeek.

Enrica sent me a photo of her car. She was in the Eastern Cape and said all the petrol attendants wanted some stickers. HA!

The day was about ticking boxes. Joanne came home late after shopping and mom stuff. I made us a simple supper and we had an early night.

On Tuesday, yes you guessed it, I was sitting at SHIFT Espresso at 7.30 after dropping Joanne off. I had to finish off my long list from Monday. I ran a few errands and before I knew it, it was time to pick Joanne up.

First stop was Ian to check the small bronzes. They came out spectacular.

Got some gold paint for Andre at Woodstock Brewery.

The very next day the bags are turned into art.

Supporting Shelflife with a sticker on my laptop.

Andre asked me for some gold spray paint as he is painting his lions gold and green. South African Rugby colours.

It's addictive.

Showing my friends, Andre and Daniel, one of my favourite burger joints, Zuney. Voted 2nd best burger in the world. The food was good, the company better. Always make an effort with your mates.

Then off home, early supper and B.E.D.

Wednesday I got stuck into a new A4 brochure for Cape Diem Lodge. That did take a while along with getting a nice collection of works together.

I wanted to do the next step on the Candy Backgammon board, but time ran away with me.

Candy Girls Backgammon Board in the making.

Thursday I was supposed to go into town but decided not to as one day a week is enough now with all the projects and bodies of work and studio, studio, studio.

The new stickers arrived. They were too big, so I need to redo them. They are a bit cheeky and vain, but what the hell.

Ha ha ha, which one is bigger?

Richie finally got his Twin Engine Rating under his belt. It's a big one.

There is a twin engine.

I spent a lot of time on Chat GPT rendering some imagery and, as I said last week, I was super impressed. News to follow.

I also worked on some Checkers 60 – SIXTY concepts and had the privilege of Geoff McIver popping in. Geoff owns a substantial collection of my work and also collaborated with me in 2018 with the Richard Scott – Lomond Wine. Geoff owns Lomond wine farm if you can remember the Red and White wine I did in 2018.

Messing about.

Adding some colour.

Friday was work from home. I spent a bit of time on the circular works for the week. The guys did half day and we chilled for the afternoon.

Saturday Joanne and I opted out to go to Kalk Bay, it’s about 90 minutes' drive from home on the other side of the Cape Peninsula. We wanted to go get some fresh Yellowtail fish. The drive was nice; we do live in a spectacular part of the world. We popped into Kalk Bay Modern who represent me in the area and then walked through town a little. Then it was off to the fish monger. He only had frozen Yellowtail so we opted out.

Then it was off home for a lazy Saturday afternoon with backgammon on the sunny deck.

Sunday was the same only Joanne and I decided to do a full 5km run around the town. It was tough. Then I warmed up the leg of lamb, made some mushroom soup and coleslaw salad for the week while Joanne also prepped for the week with a lentil salad with ingredients from the garden she just foraged.

Bitter Lekker Girls.

Always creating.

Here is the post i did on Instagram:

Day 20/1000 - Circular Artwork Series

Bitterlekker Girls

Joanne was shopping at Yuppie Chef and spotted these bitterlekker bitters from Babylons Toren. It brought back memories of when I bought lots of Cordino on our Sardinian trip in May.

Who would have thought someone has decided to create a South African version of Cordino, my favourite aperitif mixer.

Here you see me doing Mandy and Uma with Spraypaint on the empty box. Turning what would have been trash into a R5,000.00 Richard Scott artwork.

Did you know: (From Babylons Toren website) The name bitterlekker perfectly summarises this non-alcoholic aperitif – a sophisticated drink with a slightly bitter taste that wakes the palate. And on a balmy day, its thirst-quenching and just plain delicious – lekker!

Expect a bittersweet symphony of herbal notes and zesty citrus, including blood orange, grapefruit and the lingering bitterness of orange peel. Also included in the mix is Babylonstoren honeybush tea, giving bitterlekker a lovely, dry finish. The complex taste was perfected after testing no fewer than 27 recipes – the final product contains 17 ingredients, of which one is a well-guarded secret.

So, I am gonna prep for tomorrow. I need to get my head around the large bronzes.

Thank you for reading and watching.

Until next week.
