Monday was a studio day.
Sami arranged a studio tour with a group of her friends from Lugano. I prepped the studio and got on with some Monday morning admin while awaiting their arrival.
It was great to see Sami again and meet her friends.

The Lugano Gang. Petra, Manu, Me, Sami, Eleonora, Giovanni and Elena.

The famous Giovanni
After the Lugano gang left, Karim popped in for a 1pm mini studio tour. If you remember the blog from two weeks ago I met Karim and his wife Elke at Hout Bay Gallery. He popped in to a watered down studio tour as his wife is the real Richard Scott fan/collector.

Karim, all the way from Zurich.
After Karim left, I prepped some of the Muizenberg pieces and made a yummy lunch.

And were off. Muizenberg Beach Hut series.

Nomm Nomm, Maybe a bit too much cheese, but I like it like that.

Beach Walks.

Whoaaa, this tomato plant is producing lots.

Zoom Zoom. Plum English tomatoes, all the way from Pangbourne.

Baby carrots for supper.

Our table. We like to eat simple. Steak and roasted vegetables and salad from the garden.

Spice it up a little.
Tuesday was me getting back to my routine “Town Days” and working at Mervyn Gers. The Guys at Mervyn made me a few clay slabs and Frans and I got stuck into making the first vase of 2026.

This is the template I use for the one shape vase.
Last year December they guys did a move around, and we cannot find the 20 litre magic tub of ceramic glue that Patrick gave us. So, Xola gave us his magic mix which we used. Let’s see.
While Frans got on with it, I popped out to Hout Bay Gallery to pick up my folder of 2018 Daily Diary Sketches as Sami and Petra, from Lugano, wanted to have a look-see and buy some.
Here are some examples of the Daily Dairy Sketches:

I dropped it at The Church and headed out to run some errands.

The TAG is still up on the ORMS building.
I picked Joanne up and we headed home via the shops to get some supplies.
We both did some admin and had an early night. The season is changing and it is now dark when we get up in mornings. You know the feeling.
Wednesday I did commissioned work in studio and then focused on the Shombie Bus Auction we held Wednesday evening to raise funds for Community Kids Pot.

I painted this piece as an experiment in 2002. Well now it has been recycled.

Leonard from The Community Kids Pot showing the kids how to grow your own food.

Full tummies and a treat afterwards.

Teach how to fish, they say in the bible.
Thursday was another town day. Off we went nice and early to beat the traffic. Yeah right.
Nonetheless, I dropped Joanne and headed to see Marika at Hout Bay Gallery to do a stock take.

I arrived a little early, so I was soaking up the sun and counting tour busses going by. I stopped at 15.

A beautiful view on Hout Bay Gallery's deck of the mountain and an amazing Anton Smit sculpture.

This piece is in for a resale. It is called Pig Jumped over the moon. It is 150 x 150cm and I painted it in November 2012, 14 years ago. It is from the Nursery Crimes series. Here is a link to all the news about it. CLICK HERE

Spot the Scott's.

Hout Bay Gallery proudly displaying this piece of mine.

This hand Painted Fiberglass cow by Paul Du Toit is pretty cool.

This is the piece that made me flick a switch and become a professional artist.
When I was exiting my dot comm around 2000, the negotiations were getting me down, so I took a long walk up Bree street and walked into a gallery called Bell Roberts. Paul's work was on display there and I thought I want to be an artist too. And so, my journey began.
After going down memory lane at Hout Bay Gallery, I then headed back to Sea Point to see Henry for an in-depth discussion about the art market and 2026.
Then I did four or so errands and popped into Woodstock Brewery to get some beers for the weekend and catch up with work. Then home and chill.
Friday we worked from home. I signed and packed the prints that are going off to Lugano for an exhibition on 27-28 April.

I love these small prints just as much as the collectors do.

Eleonora wanted five 3D prints. I love galleries that love my 3D prints. They are so ahead of their time.
After that we headed off to The Church to see Danilo and drop off the art with Eleonora for Lugano. I never thought I would have access to the art world in Lugano. Second Highlight of the year so far after the show at TANG Dubai.
After Eleanora, we wanted to go to the Investec Art Fair but decided against it as Joanne was feeling slightly ill.
We just chilled at home.
Saturday we did the same. Read books, foraged in the garden and cook. We were having Sunday lunch with the kids again, so Joanne decided to make a roasted tomato and pepper sauce for a delicious pasta lunch.

This is our German Tomato section. We got seeds from Annet when we were there in May last year.

Not a bad little forage of baby tomatoes.

This Cape Robin was quite tame and came up to see what we were doing.

All in a day's work.

Drawing while Joanne watched Come Dine with Me.
Sunday was same, Book, play cards, cook and chill.
So that's it.
Thanks for reading and viewing.
