Richard Scott Blog - 7th December 2025

Monday we woke up to no electricity, so I checked in with Juanita, the neighbour, and she was also out. Joanne found out they were working on the sub-stations. 1-3 days. So DO NOT OPEN the fridge. 😊.

Cool photo of the house from Juanita's balcony.

Making green juice last Sunday from our veggie garden.

I added these hearts to this bag.

My Hypnotic Joyride. Henry from Sea Point Art Gallery picked this up.

Tuesday was my town day. Although Mervyn still had an issue with the clay making machine, I still went in and checked in on the new vase. All going to plan with the panel beating idea I had. Frans also got stuck into the ceramic tiles I want to make with the off cuts. He got the hang of it pretty quick.

Shape 4, getting there.

That hole is too small. Inside there is cardboard struts that need to come out. We miss judged the gap a little.

Tiles take 2.

Joanne had their Christmas lunch, so I decide to go have a Zuney Burger over the road as it was close enough when they finished.

Photo for Ignatius Marx.

Henry, from You and I Gallery, in Sea Point had sold a Graffiti Golf Print that I had in my draw. And Jean his sales lady wanted photo of available large Graffiti works on paper.

Graffiti Golf Girl.

Candy as well.

Packed and ready for delivery on my Vespa.

Just the two of us! From 2023. Graffiti spray paint on paper.

These are my current favourite pieces to create in the studio.

Only Me. This piece is on TYVEK paper. The paper you cannot tear.

12 Lucky Lotto girls for Rossouw Modern hosting "The Night of 1000 drawings" in Hermanus to raise funds for Charity. Liz tells me they all sold in a blink of an eye.

I dropped Joanne off at work and then headed to Toyota to drop the car in for a service on Wednesday. I Uber'd home and gave the guys instructions. Hendrik decided on Wednesday to re-paint the candy fence at the end of the garden, so I let him get on with it. I used Angelina's car to get around for the day. Mostly Mervyn and town.

There she is.

Nothing like a fresh coat of Richard Scott Candy Paint.

Jean and Karien were in Cape town on holiday. They came to see the setup at Mervyn with a full tour and then I showed them my Ceramic Vases and the concept.

Wow, the wind was blowing in Cape Town. Meet Jean and Karien.

Concept drawings.

After that we went for a nice lunch at Marble where Joanne joined us as well.

Sending Jean directions.

Marble, Jean and Karien's new favourite restaurant.

Jean and Karien are the guys who made me famous in Belgium, when they bought over 250 paintings in 2004 and 2006 and sold them in POP-UP exhibits around Belgium.

These are the cups and bowls Jean did for me in 2005. I was actually not sure why there was a sample at Mervyn.

After lunch we headed back to Toyota in Angelina’s Suzuki, and I dropped Joanne and then we met up at home again. No supper necessary.

Joanne in disbelief that the extra's at the Toyota service only cost R20 compared to BMW at R20 000

Thursday was a day from hell. I had so much to do I almost let the anxiety get in the door. I kept telling myself there are a lot of hours in a day and it worked. It was a town run day with about six different things to do. First was Mervyn Gers to open up the new clay vase by removing the plastic so it could dry a little. Then Wim, at Black River Silkscreen Prints Studio to drop off the Gold Prints for a Gold re-run. Then was Henry in Sea Point to drop off Golf Lady Prints. Then I popped back past Mervyn to close up the vase and then Pick Joanne up to head home to host the Melkbos Care Centre WhatsApp auction. It was a great success, and we helped raise over R50 000 for their cause. Nice feeling. Then B-E-D time.

The Famous Wolschie sending me a pic of him outside the German Parliament with a Richard Scott t-shirt on.

Candy Ana I pushed through one of them photo apps to make it look like it is framed and hanging. Quite cool.

Friday we didn’t need to go into town so we could sleep in. And do you think it’s possible to sleep in on a day you can. The answer is no. I’m not sure why but it is what’s it is. You know the feeling. We were both up early picking up the pieces from Thursday nights charity auction with Melkbos Care Centre.

It was 8am and two coffees down before we knew it. Hendrik rocked up and helped pack all the auction items while I prepped the lunch for Reinhard. Reinhard is one of the supports on the Shombie Bus auction and he is looking to buy a few paintings for his and Renata’s dream home in Liberec in the northern part of Czech Republic.

It was great to catch up with him, and we had a lekker crayfish 🦞 and lamb chop braai.

Nomm Nomm.

Chad, Reinhard and Joanne.

Spot the bread. Crayfish and bread, best ever.

Reinhard loving the pool.

Thanks Chad. Great Pic.

Czech girls have more fun.

The day flew past and late afternoon Joanne, and I played some backgammon and collapsed on the couch watching a movie.

Saturday morning, we popped into town to see Aimee at The Diamond Works to talk business. Then we picked up our cell phones on our way home.

Me testing my phone after repair. Long day.

Getting ready for the ice-bucket.

Sunday we went for a nice long walk on the beach and then hosted Jean and Karien all the way from Leuven, Belgium and now Bourdeau in France. So, now it's time to repeat Fridays’ crayfish braai and local cuisine. Jean requested boerewors, as he loves it.

Karien fell in love with this piece.

Good times with good people.

Thank you for reading and viewing.

The wind was still blowing Monday which made it rather difficult outside while the guys were bubble wrapping the large construction and wine barrel works that were going off to Greyton for this weekend’s annual Greyton art walk.  I did...

On Monday, Hendrik and I decided to take down the front door and varnish it. You probably know the back of the front door has a huge powder-blue Tammy on it. So, it is quite a delicate operation as the...
