I decided to put this picture of one of the Sardinian beaches up first as I type this to you on Sunday, as this was our fondest moments of the last two weeks business trip and vacation.
Monday morning, we decided to head South to Cagriali, the capital city of Sardinia for 2 days. We booked a quaint flat in the centre of the old town and headed South in our Lancia Ypsilon. It was a 3,½ hour road trip with nothing much to see. As we drove South the landscape got greener.
We were only allowed to check in at 5pm so we parked up near the flat and walked the city.
First stop was the old Roman Amphitheatre. It was pretty eerie to be in a place where two centuries ago people fought to the death for entertainment.

Here is the Google Search result: The Roman Amphitheatre of Cagliari is a majestic 2nd-century \(AD\) ruin carved directly into the limestone of Buoncammino Hill. Originally capable of holding 10,000 spectators, it was used for gladiatorial combats and animal hunts.
Nonetheless, it was interesting. Then we popped into the Cathedral and just walked the streets admiring the architecture from all them hundreds of years ago.

How and why do they build on the rocks like this. Fascinating.

Checking out the local Cathedral: Cattedrale Di Cagliari.

These places are very spiritual. You can feel the energy.

1000 year old architecture with modern day tared road and drain to boot.

Walk and walk some more. Another architectural marvel.

From on top of the hill in Cagliari overlooking the port and ocean.
Then it was 5pm and time to check in. After we settled in we decided to walk down the main drag of the town and admire the city.

Our home on the top floor, 4th, for 2 days. Old town Cagliari, the Capital of Sardinia, in the South.
We stopped off in the main restaurant area and had an aperitif and decided on a pizza as we were both starving.

Oh no, not pizza again. We were both hungry and oh my word, delicious.
Unbeknown to us, Cagliari were celebrating their annual "Festa di Sant'Efisio festival". So, we decided to sit it out and watch the entertainment. It was pretty fascinating and deeply religious.
After two hours we had seen enough people in local attire and horses in the droves.
We headed back up to the flat and got a good night's sleep.
Tuesday we did the same and just walked and walked the city. Soaking up the local atmosphere and art scene. We even walked down to the harbour.
Joanne managed to get in some good shopping as the clothes all fit her been petite. Must be an Italian thing.

Morning Neighbour. I still cannot believe they do that washing line thing in Italy. Bedroom balcony looking at the lounge balcony.

City PANO.

Got the harbour shot. Little bit boring, but we did it. You have to. I got the photos for a Sardinian art series.

More photographic research.

Italian breakfast. Coffee and pastry. All that I forgot to order was a Grappa.

Getting lost and spending time with Joanne, my soulmate, love of my life and my beautiful wife. What a pleasure.

Sourcing material for my I LOVE SARDINIA city artwork.

The guy in the shop was fascinated that some guy, me, wanted to buy and old Sardinian map. Well, this €9 map is gonna make me €90,000.00 over the next 30 years.

A beautiful statue.

Practicing my portrait PANO skills. Lots of Graffiti, bit not good graffiti, only Tagging.

Another one.

From Cape Town?

Supper in one of the back ally's.

When in ROME.
Wednesday we got up early and headed out to Poetto beach in Cagliari. It was literally 5 minutes’ drive from the flat.
We obviously first checked out of the flat and were off.
The water was a little cooler than we had been experiencing the last week. We dipped our toes in and took a stroll along the beach and were off home, San Pantaleo.

The next morning, we spotted another FIAT 500 with a CA number plate. Then the penny dropped CA = Cagliari. I googled it and found no results.

Good morning from Poetto Beach in Cagliari.

Back home in San Pantaleo and got the supplies for the last few days.

Another PANO.

Rain Settled.

Joanne made up a vase of Bottle Brush flowers.
Thursday was Market day in San Pantaleo. So, we were up nice an early and at the market at 8.30am.
We were a little early, so decided on a coffee and a pastry at the local: Nino’s.

Morning, or should I say Bon Journo.
As the Market picked up with customers, so we decided to get stuck in. We bought lots of local odds and sods as gifts for the kids and I opted for some local Pecorino.

And we're off. What a place to start. Cheese and Charcuterie.

How do you say one of each please in Italian. Oh, and can you please vacuum pack it so I can smuggle it home.

The only words to explain this photo are "Happy Wife, Happy life"

Joanne spotted our next buy on the way back to the car.
Then we headed off to the beach for a swim as the weather man had predicted it was our last sunny day.
After the beach we headed to Porto Cervo for a look-see and an aperitif, before heading home. The weather man was right, as we headed home the rains came down. It was nice to experience the rain.

Porto Cervo from the hill.

Porto Cervo from the opposite side.

Joanne asked me which yacht I would like to buy and this was the one she bought for me.

Beautiful Church on the hill. Stella Maris.

Got the photo.

We both agreed, lots of energy.

Very moving.

VIP treatment at Belvedere on the hill. The roof top bar only opens at 4pm, but Gian Paolo treated us to a glass of wine, a view, some great snacks and good conversation.

Got the photo with the Boss, Gian Paolo.

On the way home we decided to do desert at the local Gelateria in our home town San Pantaleo. Joanne opted for Dark Chocolate and I opted for my favourite, Cherry. NOMM NOMM.
Friday we slept in as it was cloudy and it was our last day on the island. We cleaned the house and packed up.

Back home. Practicing my PANO skills again.

Landscape version.
I made up a nice artwork from the drift wood I collected on our hike. I decided to leave it for Danilo as a gift as Joanne googled taking items from nature abroad from Sardinia and it was not allowed. I argued it was drift wood, which classifies as rubbish, but I wasn’t willing to pay the €3,000.00 fine and possible jail time.

Doing what I do best.

Circular. There was so much drift wood on that beach.

About here, I think. In the lounge.

I also did this piece on the local beer, Ichnusa. I opted for the unfiltered version.
After that was done and Joanne washed up all the towels and linen we still had a few hours to kill so we booked a table at Belvedere, on Danilo’s suggestion. We did meet the owner Juan Pablo the day before and he treated us like VIP. Thanks Danilo.

Lunch - BUT, I have my eyes on the menu to paint on it.

Joanne and her favourite Sardinia bread.
We opted for the Sea Bass and simple Italian style vegetables. Joanne's favourite thin Sardinian bread, Pane Carasau, arrived and we soaked up the view. Guiseppe our waiter had amazing hosting skills, the food was great and we thought of us just spent two weeks in Paradise.

Giuseppe carving up our Sea Bass.

How does Bertus Basson say it "Simple and delicious"

When in ROME always put your grappa in your coffee - all thanks to Wayne Imbroli.

ME, Gian Paolo, Giuseppe, Gian Paolo's brother and Joanne.
Off home and off to Olbia to head off to Milan. Milan to Dubai and Dubai home.

On our way home.
27hrs later. We were both a little stuffed in Dubai, but Joanne with her Nedbank Private Client card had access to all the Lounges and was a blessing.

Some cool art in Sardinia and they are not shy to show it.
I must say, the Easy Jet experience was fantastic. Best Airline I have ever flown with. Simple, easy, no fuss, no questions, quick take offs and on time like Safair here in South Africa.

Taking a photo for my Pilot son, Richie.
I caught up with some doodles and the blog.

Online doodles. Creating vector versions of the "Car Girls"

Empty Aeroplane.

Had to do it. Took a photo of Dubai Airport lounge breakfast and sent it to the Family Group saying "Uncle Stuart's Breakfast Dubai Style"

And we are off again. 3/3 flight.
On the main flight back, I watched The Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel documentary. Highly recommend it. Then I watched the true life story Dead Mans Wire. A bit slow but who would of thought they got away with live TV hostage stuff. Only in America. Then I finally watched a film called Marty Supreme. I didn’t get to finish it but sure will when it comes out. Fascinating story that I could 100% relate to the character and life.
Before we knew it we landed and were in the Uber home. We popped out to get some essentials as the fridge was empty. Nice bottle of local (more affordable) South African Pinot Noir and an early night, like 8pm.
It rained up a storm all night which was so soothing and an awesome reminder we were home. We woke up with the natural light and the view of our sea.
Sunday I checked in at the studio and did a bit of work. Joanne and I then foraged for some food in the Vegetable garden to make a vegetable soup and a Bolognaise Sauce for the week ahead.

Back home in my Happy Space.

Signing a Backgammon board.

Cool angle.

Just dropped !! one of my top 10 works.
The washing machine was going all Sunday as we like to wash everything when we come home. We are both a bit OCD with that when we travel.
The fire is going, the oven is on, the tumble dryer and washing machine are on. My computer keyboard is hot from me typing to you 😊.
So, I will sign off now and post the blog.
Thanks for reading and watching.
Until next Sunday.
