Monday we woke up to the storm of storms in Cape Town. That’s all everyone talked about all week. It was quite bad they even closed the schools for two days. Nonetheless, Joanne went back to work I did so too in the studio.
It was quite awesome experiencing the severe weather.

Found. In the bottom of my print draw. The 2nd last Gold Money Tree.

A collector is looking for a small Splash work, so I sent them this circular piece.
Tuesday was clean-up day. Trees, water, sand everywhere. I still decided to go into town with Joanne, even though the weather guru’s said stay at home. Tuesday was not as bad as Monday's weather and with all the people been told to stay at home, the streets and traffic was like driving around on a Sunday afternoon.
I stopped off at SHIFT espresso for an hour to do my admin. Then I popped into Orms to catch up with Rashieqh and pick up a “Oh Candy Candy Candy” print that Hout Bay Gallery sold to a client.

Sending Angelina my daily morning photo.
Rashieqh packed it up after I signed the print and I was off to see John.

ORMS print room. Oh Candy Candy Candy. 200cm x 100cm
After John, I popped in to see Ian from Lipman’s. He has found a way to cast my small bronze sculptures. So that was really great news. We spoke about patinas (colouring with chemicals) and now production can start.

The blue Ana is the small 10 x 10cm 3d print. The Bronze Ana on the right is the first one to come out the oven. The Green piece is the next size up and the next project Ian is going to do.
Then it was time to go see Daniel and show him the Cape Diem Lodge artworks and discuss the project. Basically, we will put one up in each room and the staff will tell the interested clientele the story behind the artworks. I will post the full story here once we are fully live in the coming weeks.

The man himself Daniel. A business friend and business partner.
I did a quick stop at Mervyn Gers to check in on the glazed vases. Mama Mia.

This made my day, week, and year. Finally step four complete and it was a huge success. A year's work.
The I popped in to see Andre at the brewery to catch up as I haven’t seen him in four weeks.

Andre doing some math.
Then collect Joanne and home.
Wednesday I had a request for the Gold Money Tree Silkscreen that I did in 2017. It was an edition of 47 and it sold out in a month. I kept two back in case a client damaged theirs. So, I decided to sell one as a Studio Proof 1/1. Now there is only one left.

Signing the Gold Money Tree print.

Zoom Zoom.
I did a lot of work on the new sticker series. Pics to follow. I also worked on the new brochure for Studio Tours with Ilios that have just opened up.
Thursday was town again. First stop was Mervyn Gers to discuss colours with David. I am basically limited to the restraints of Ceramics and Colours. It’s frustrating, as I would like to paint them, but I cannot as the colours are limited. So, we have to silkscreen print them onto special material and then place them on the vases with water like transfers. Reminds me of the water tattoos when we were kids.

Tracing each vase for the transfers that need to be silk-screened individually.

1/9 side A. Here we go.
After Mervyn I ran some errands. Topfast to get some screws for the Red “BREAK GLASS BOX” series.
I popped out to Naturalis, who manufacture the boxes for me and picked up ten new ones.

Packed and ready. Thanks to the guys at Naturalis.
Then I shopped around for the little “ball peen” hammers I put on the side of the box. They are quite scarce to find. I found four at Baltic timbers after unsuccessfully checking four other suppliers. Then I picked Joanne up and we headed to home to chill.

Safely back in studio and ready for assembly.

I also picked up these Graffiti pieces from Sean for a client.
Friday was work from home day. We both got stuck into admin. They guys came in at 9am and did odd and sods jobs till 1pm.

Richie dropped off some key rings and these "Reject/Test" pieces were in the box. I know just the collector that will buy these.

They are beautiful.
Joanne fancied some sushi so we booked a table at Melkbos Kitchen. To our surprise the day turned out beautiful and we got a front row seat to the ocean and our Melkbos beach front. They had changed to the Winter Menu, so Sushi was off. We opted for the fish and calamari combo. It was absolutely delicious.
Angelina came over Friday afternoon for the weekend. It was great to see her, even though she had to study.

Happy Angelina with the jacket we bought her in San Pantaleo, Sardinia.

I love you.
Saturday was run on the road, get the fire going, even though it was a nice day. Breakfast around the table with all the breads we bought Thursday morning and then some studio time, while Joanne made Pea Soup, Vegetable soup, Oxtail stew, and sweet potato with Mediterranean topping. Yes, four different meals. All for Lunch, supper, and Sunday lunch. And there were even leftovers for us for the week.

Resin test done. This exercise put the cherry on the cake for my successful week.
Saturday night was chill, movies, oxtail and early night.
Sunday was up early again, another run on the road. Say goodbye to Angelina. I checked in on the resin test and it worked. It was the 4th thing that happened this week that was quite seminal:
1. Vases successfully been glazed white and none of them cracking
2. Small bronzes are now a reality thanks to Ian Lipman
3. Danile loving the Cape Diem Lodge series of works
4. Finally found the right resin for the new series I am working on

Photographing all the new Circular Works.

Sunday doodles. Vase concepts.

Sunday morning at 3am, while lying in bed, I had a brainwave. I decided to post one photo every day on Instagram of the circular works. Then describe the product a little and then tell a story of how it got into my hands. So here goes. This will be the first piece posted tomorrow for 1000 days.
We had a family Sunday lunch to celebrate Amy’s 28th Birthday. My only job was to do the focaccia. So, I better go do it.
Thanks for reading and watching.
Until next week.
