Richard Scott Weekly Blog - 24th May 2026

Monday I started the 1/1000 series. Every morning, I will post a “Circular Series” on Instagram.

It was our first week back at the grindstone properly as last week was tough trying to get back into things after being away on business and holiday in Italy and Switzerland.

I decided to add a touch of red to the latest Golden Joyride. Other than that, it was mostly admin for me.

Gold Joyride.

Tuesday  I popped into town with a list a mile long of things to do. Danile at the lodge to chat art, Sean the framers to chat framing, Janet at NSC resins to chat resin. The list went on. I did manage to get in some admin and payment while sitting at SHIFT Espresso. I bumped into Tony Coleman and we had a long chat about life, work, and family.

I picked Joanne up and we went to go see her friend Louise and Eva. Then were off home. Nothing special.

Eva and Alexander.

Joanne with Mila practicing her Grandmother skills.

Pro dad.

Signing a wallet for Alexander.

Proud new collector. Alexander with his 2nd Richard Scott.

Wednesday I was home again planning a trip to the UK for a show on the 28th June.

I also got stuck into the design of the ‘Richard Scott Studio Tours” fold out brochure.

I also did a circular Candy Tammy.

Thursday I posted the Crodino Circular work on Instagram.

Day 4/1000 – Circular Series

Cordino Uma. I picked up this awesome and attractive Crodino packaging in a small grocery store in San Pantaleo, Sardinia while on business there last month. The Crodino was delicious. I kept the packaging and brought it all the way back home to my studio in Cape Town cos I thought it was cool.

I first remember tasting it in Torino for breakfast at Marco Garbero’s flat. So, it’s Marco’s fault I crave Crodino 😊

FYI: Crodino is a popular, non-alcoholic sparkling Italian aperitif. Often described as a "non-alcoholic spritz," it is famous for its vibrant orange colour and complex, bittersweet flavour profile derived from a secret blend of herbs, spices, woods, and roots.

Crodino Uma.

I did a lot of work on the Ceramic Vase sketches. I sat myself down  and sketched away for four hours. It was very rewarding.

I arranged for Hendrick to do a run from the framers to Hout Bay and Sea Point to drop large, framed graffiti pieces.

My office for the day.

Friday I was supposed to go to an all day tour with a 3rd Party Company, but I woke up with that groggy feeling. You know, that “Once a month” washing machine head groggy feeling.

I excused myself and just chilled on the couch trying to do admin all day long. I did manage to come right by about 2pm and tagged along with Joanne as she had a few errands to run in town.

We were home late because of the traffic. We ate left overs for supper and were in bed at 7pm cos we were so knackered.

Saturday we did a beach run for the first time in four weeks. I was feeling a little better. Joanne dragged me out to the mall as she needed to take her phone in and get it repaired. While there we did some food shopping for Daniella’s Mexican Sunday Birthday lunch.

I was only to glad too get back home and get the fire going and chill.

The beach was looking a bit untidy with the storms.

Lots of pink-like jelly fish on the beach.

Not sure what these are.

Sunday we were both feeling much better and went for a road run. It was tough I will admit. Then we had a simple breakfast and then we did Sunday stuff: Foraged in the garden, cooked for lunch, blog blog blog, made a fire and waited for the kids to arrive for Daniella's birthday lunch.

Until next week.

Thanks for reading and watching.
