Richard Scott Blog - 12th October 2025

I swapped Monday with Tuesday this week. I.E. Town on Monday and admin on Tuesday. So, I headed into town with Joanne, got us a nice coffee and headed to Mervyn to get some clay work done. Then I popped into see Henry at You and I Gallery. I picked Joanne up and we headed off to catch up with Iqbal. Iqbal was the biggest contributor to the Somerset Hospital  Auction, and we had his items with us to drop off. He took the time to tell us his journey in life and was swapped stories. Very inspiring. Then we were off home.

Joanne asked me "What ya doing?". So, I sent her this picture.

Hello Henry.

A beautiful display by Henry.

Tuesday I stayed at home as I had a few meetings in the studio.

I also got a small body of work together for Ben to take with him back to Dubai. I had a brain wave to do a popup there in either December or January. News to follow.

Sending Richie my view from the top deck.

Wednesday I was at home for a few meetings. I also got the Clemengold orange tree done and Tobie popped in to collect his Vespa. I also got to plant the tomato seeds Andreas' wife Annet gave Joanne and I when we were in Germany. Let’s see if they grow in our Melkbosstrand soil.

Loving this piece.

And this one.

The above two works are an adaptation of this Orange Tree Print.

One happy collector. Tobie.

And here we go. Thanks Annet

Thursday I was at it again at Mervyn. I then popped out to have a quick lunch with my good friend Daniel from Cape Diem Lodge and then it was off to fetch Joanne and head home.

With the new process I can get one done a day.

New shape in the making.

Slowly drying.

Full production, 3 different shapes, lots more to come.

Happy life. Chilling with Daniel.

Friday was early morning beach run and then quick admin and studio and then we were off to support Henry’s new Gallery opening in Robertson. We decided to go via Franschoek to drop off a small gift artwork with Paul at Colmant. Paul was on his way to Europe, so it was just a quick drop off.

Our beautiful home.

The was a massive flock of gannets on the beach. I think they are gannets. See here behind the seagulls. I have never seen so many. it was beautiful.

And they are off.

Happy collector in Scotland.

An another.

James in England was asking for some details on the 3D prints and Ceramics. Here is a photo of the very first test run.

Yes yes yes, the new gold girls are coming soon.

We headed off to Roberson over the Franschoek pass, which was not a good idea as there had been rock falls on the pass, so there was a stop and go wait for 30 minutes. Nonetheless it was a beautiful drive.

Ta daaaaaaa.

We were having lunch with Chrislene of Van Louveren Wine farm. She was the highest bidder on the Richard Scott gift set on the Somerset Hospital charity auction, so we were delivering that to her personally. She treated us to a lunch at the bistro which was delicious.

Meet Chrislene, owner of Van Louveren and winner of the Richard Scott hamper.

This is the Hamper Chrislene won.

One happy collector.

Great photo.

Two trees planted in 1947 by the founders of Van Louveren Wine farm.

They have a tree tour on the farm.

Then it was time to check into the hotel. I booked us at the beautiful little boutique hotel The Roberson Small. It really was nice. We chilled on the porch and soaked up the hotel for an hour or so.

Very beautiful hotel setting.

Joanne chilling on our deck.

Then we headed out to support Henry. It was great to see him opening up a new space.

And were off. My beautiful wife.

Henry and the crazy bull dog.

Then we all went for a steak and pizza next door and another early night.

Yeah, I got to connect with Jimmy Choo.

Saturday morning, we woke up in our fancy hotel and got ready for a complimentary breakfast. After that we packed up and headed to see Pat at Robertson Art Gallery for a quick catch up.

When you see an antique store, Joanne is in.

Then we said goodbye to Henry over the road and headed home. We decided to stop off at The Pepper Tree in Philadelphia for a late lunch.  After that we headed home where Angelina and her friend arrived at the same time. We unpacked and caught up with home stuff.

We got a stash of fresh produce from The Pepper Tree.

Sunday was time to ourselves. Beach run, breakfast on the deck and then blog and chill. Angelina was home studying.

Were gonna go harvest some dill in the garden and make some soups and salads with it.

Nomm Nomm Sunday lunch.

Peek a boo.

Thank you for reading and viewing.

Until next week
