Richard Scott Blog - 15th June 2025

Pretty short week with regards to things happening. I went into town every day this week bar Monday where I did the usual studio admin. Meetings and then studio filled with lots of graffiti and restorations of older paintings.

The Moon at 5.30am over the sea.

A new series of Candy Girl prints at 30 x 30cm.

The rest of the week I was in every day taking on my new found “best things to do” working with clay.

The view from my Clay Window.

Still slowly drying.

I removed the plastic while I was there to dry a little faster.

Making a template for the next piece.

Clay cut.

Having a bit of fun.

The box is ready for the lid.

Peek a boo.

Pic of the tiles 1st Draft.

I found this random Richard Scott cat bowl in the kitchen at Mervyn. Richie did these for me a very long time ago.

All work and no clay :)

This went on all week.

Travel phone.

Doing some doodles for Les of High Road Wines.

Breakfast meeting with Les and Angelique at Jason's Bakery. Always great to catch up with Les.

And, I am back at it again. Checking to see if Vase 4 lid template is the same.

The lid is cut. This vase was so quick to put together as the clay was a few days old and 13mm thick.

Adding some glue: Vinegar.

Putting the lid on. Can you spot the mistake I made. It was very annoying.

Making it fit.

Stitching the pieces together.

Vase 3 getting some attention.

Needs some paddling. The act of using a wooden spoon to move the clay into positions slowing with light tapping.

I have to get going again so Vase 3 gets wrapped up again.

Jean and his family popped in for a studio tour early Saturday morning. Jean is a big collector of my art from Pretoria.

Jean and his daughter Jade, his son Aron and Chad in the background. Always nice to meet nice people and collectors of my art.

Saturday afternoon was nice as the whole family came over for a early Father's Day lunch. I am not into that kinda stuff, but the kids are for obvious reasons.

Richie mad my favourite: Tomato soup and pan fried Toasted Cheese.

Getting ready to eat Angelina's famous Orange Cake. My Father's Day gift from her. Nomm Nomm.

Delicious.

Teaching Richie Backgammon. Took him 3 games to beat me the first time. I did try the back game and it failed. Or am I allowed to say "the dice failed me" :)

Saturday Doodles.

Saturday evening Joanne and I went for a long walk on the beach all the way to the river. Then home to crash on the couch.

Sunday we got up early, drove to Cape Town. Walked up Table Mountain and down again. Then we went to go see Mrs. Schneider. Craig's mom. Then we popped in to see Paul, Joanne's brother and then CHECKERS to get some supplies for the week and then home where I am typing this to you at 17h28 on Sunday evening when I normally post it at 3pm.

Picnic at the top of Table Mountain.

Eating left over orange cake and sending Angelina a pic.

My wife, the love of my life.

Happy Father's Day dad.

Until next week

Thank you for reading and viewing.

Monday we woke up to no electricity, so I checked in with Juanita, the neighbour, and she was also out. Joanne found out they were working on the sub-stations. 1-3 days. So DO NOT OPEN the fridge. 😊.   Cool...

The wind was still blowing Monday which made it rather difficult outside while the guys were bubble wrapping the large construction and wine barrel works that were going off to Greyton for this weekend’s annual Greyton art walk.  I did...

On Monday, Hendrik and I decided to take down the front door and varnish it. You probably know the back of the front door has a huge powder-blue Tammy on it. So, it is quite a delicate operation as the...
