Richard Scott Blog: 9th April 2023

I decided to make 6 small Tree Prints to go on display and for sale at Klein Constantia Wine farm where I’m exhibiting the big Sauvignon Blanc and Red Tree. Here are a few cheesy pics of me holding them up for shop photos on my website.

Angelina sent some pics of her and Emma skiing in Austria. Super cool to see her waxing it on day one. That’s a box I still need to tick off in life.

Monday, I was printing the color draft for Jan Dre at Mervyn Gers Ceramics. It’s a sample for him to use to match the colours of the Tequila ceramic bottle I’m working on.

Colour coding with all the right pieces in place

I found this old piece I did on a reject Trouser press way back in 2010 on Monday in the back of the studio. I did a whole series back in 2010 called the Kids Series. There is all sort of stuff like pencil sketches and pastel drawing lying in my storage box.

Monday night I decided to make stewed plum and apple. I always think of my Uncle Ken in Bath in the U.K when I make stewed fruit. Can’t for the life of me think why? It lasted me 3 nights. It was delicious as the plums were sour and the apples were sweet.

Tuesday was shop day and it was a full one. I had back to back appointments. It started with Mike and Sarah discussing everything Tequila, from sourcing the product to bottling and packaging. Selwyn also popped in to add his thoughts. Always good to have strong smart soundboards around you. Thanks Mike and Selwyn. You are going to make my Tequila a success.

Lots of colour everywhere

Wednesday, I got stuck into all sorts, from the Wallets to Tequila to painting wine bottles to prepping a Vespa I’m painting, to spraying old packaging sleeves.

Thursday, I stayed at home as there was too much to do with Friday being a Holiday. I also wanted to finish off fiber-glassing the shower floor in the Guest Room.

Angelique popped into Klein Constantia to oversee the installation of the two large works being installed. Pop in to the Wine Farm and go for a lunch at the Bistro and admire the two beautiful pieces on display and for sale.

Friday, I got stuck into the shower floor again and other stuff around the house as Chad took Joanne out to the Waterfront for a Birthday lunch and some shopping.

Lunch Time with Chad and Joanne

Saturday was Joanne’s birthday. We all went to the Winchester Hotel for a breakfast and then I took Joanne to go buy her birthday gifts. Joanne taught me to buy a NEED a WANT and AN EXPERIENCE. So for her Experience I got her a weekend away at Cape Point with Veld and Sea, foraging for food in the wild and then you get to cook with it and have a evening experience. There is a beautiful little Beach Shack that I rented out for two days on the property. For her WANT and her NEED I got her a nice pair of jeans, boots and a long winter Jacket.

Easter Sunday we cooked a roast beef and roast chicken. It was a small turn out as Angelina was in Austria and Richie was flying. I foraged for some spinach in the garden and we also found some wild pepper rocket.

Nothing like growing your own food

Angelina sent me a few pictures of her and Emma sticking my stickers on poles etc in Austria. LOL

Until Next Sunday, enjoy Easter see you soon.
