Monday was the usual admin day. I asked Hendrik to cut out an Ana from the REBUL boxes in the garage. I need to get a life size one made up out of Supawood so that Ruan can do the bronzes.
Tuesday I was in town. I dropped Joanne and then headed straight to Mervyn Gers to instruct Frans on this week’s two vases. The first one from last week had a crack in it. The clay we were supplied was a tiny bit dry so I kinda expected it. It was also a good lesson for Frans to see as it was his first attempt.
I also managed to pop out to Top Fast, the nut and bolt shop, and buy all the pieces I needed to complete a commission piece of three LOTTO girls in a neon pink Perspex frame for a collector. Frans was doing well so at 2pm I headed off to pick Joanne up. We needed to do some shopping after clearing out our cupboards a few weeks back. So off to the Waterfront, come nice Sushi from Willoughby & Co for lunch and then clothes shopping.
I accidentally scratched the side of the new car. Eeeek, I didn’t let it ruin my lunch and shopping. By the time we were done and home it was 7pm.
Wednesday I did the same, drop Joanne and head to Mervyn to start another vase. I decided on the complex distorted style one.
I completed the Pink LOTTO piece and popped out to deliver it. Raymond the collector that bought it asked me if I could deliver it in person at 11.11 (eleven minutes past eleven) as the lady, Sarah, receiving the birthday gift lucky number is 11. So, I did that and then popped in to see Tom and Mickey at Vespa to say hello. Then I popped in to catch up with Daniel at Il Leone. It was great to see him. I have not eaten there for ages as I always use to go when Andy was in Cape Town. It was our favourite spot.

Catching up with Mikey at Vespa.

Meet Daniel, Award winning Chef and great man.

I opted for the Swiss Roll and a cup of tea while I waited for Joanne at Highlands House.
Then I picked Joanne up early as she was doing her usual Wednesday visit at Highlands House to visit Mrs Schneider. I waited in the restaurant and caught up on Instagram. Quite quick how an hour can go past while you scrolling through random stuff. Then we were off to the shop again as they left one of those electronic tags on a pair of shorts I bought. Ignatius invited us for a drink at Floy and Liezel’s house in Bloubergstrand. It was good to see them as well. Then it was home for supper and pack for our weekend trip to Plettenberg Bay.
Joanne headed out Thursday morning, and I took some time out and worked on the mini bronze BIG 5 I want to release. Chad drove me into town with all the bags and stuff for the Plett trip.
The first stop was Chris and Engela in Klein Brak, a five hour drive. The drive went well. We did a few stops along the way and arrived safely at 6pm. Chris had the fire going and we had a lekker braai and a good catch up.

My dear friend Chris Basson braai-ing for us.

Chris and Engela live in a small town on the beach with the most beautiful view.

Our friends Chris and Engela.
Friday morning, we were up early and on the beach. Chris made Joanne a cup of coffee and me a bowl of porridge. We went through Chris’s art and were off to Plett at 8am.
First stop was Sabrina Love where I painted with 15 kids. It was an amazing feeling to help others in need. Suzy and Tony do amazing things at their wonderful location on the outskirts of Plett.

And were off. I thought it would get really messy, but all was well. No paint on my clothes.

Always so great to help others experience my world of colour and art.

The boys having a good laugh.

Following the theme of love in the Sabrina Love Foundation.

Adding a minor detail.

Tony getting involved and having some creative fun as well.

Teaching.

Hugs of happiness all around.

And some more hugs.

Hi 5. Making people less fortunate in life feel like a million dollars.

Group Photo.

Finished products.
Suzy and Tony invited us for a lunch at Icedream Land which was wonderful to spend quality time with them and catch up.
After lunch Suzy invited us to go watch the showjumping event at their new venue Robberg Equestrian Park. It was fascinating to watch and even more fascinating as Tony took the time to explain all the rules. Did you know that Robberg Equestrian Park is the only Equestrian Park in the country with a specially formulated material on the ground that works in all weather. It’s a special mixture of fibers and other materials that allow seepage so they can even have the event in the rain. We watched the final event where horses have to jump 1.4m high and in some cases two at a time. It was amazing to see and experience Equestrian world.

Whoaaaaa. Very impressive. Inspired me to do an Equestrian Series.

That jump is 1.4m high and just as wide. Amazing.
After watching the show, we checked into the Air Bnb and popped down the road to get some supplies and have a nice home cooked meal on the braai.

Our view for three days.
Saturday we woke up nice and early to our beautiful view of the bay. A few coffee’s on the balcony and then we got a call from Suzy to say she booked us on the boat to do a 90 minute cruise around the bay in Plett to see the sea life.

Top floor.
It was amazing to be out so deep in the ocean. It makes you feel so minuscule in the world as the ocean is so massive and intimidating.
We did get to see all the wildlife from whales to dolphins to seals. I didn’t realise seals climb up so high on the rocks.

All wind swept and full of sea salt.

On board and Beacon Isle in the background.

The photo does not show it, but high on those rock are seals. I did not know seals climb rocks. Well now I do.

I needed one of them camera's. We were the only South Africans on the Boat. The tourists are here.

Again, you can't see it, but we saw a huge pod of Dolphins just off shore.

Here is a photo of the boat we were on.

Got the photo with the captain, Steve.
When we got back we went to Market Off Main, a trendy gathering spot, for some Greek lunch and a drink.

Greek lunch. Delicious.

View of the old town church in Plettenberg Bay. The bells were tolling Sunday morning early calling all the town folk to service.
Then we went for a nice long walk on Plettenberg bay beach with a cocktail at The Lookout Bar before we went home and watched old Leon Schuster skits on the TV. We both fell asleep watching.

The weather was not the best for swimming. But long beach walks are always good for the soul.

Spending every precious moment with my best friend, soulmate, love of my life and beautiful wife Joanne.

Ha, got the pic to prove it :)
Sunday we woke up feeling great. A quick pack up and then a nice breakfast on the deck and we were off home.

Why eat out, when you can cook a breakfast in. Joanne always makes sure my tummy is full.
We popped in to drop of some goodies for Suzy and then drove on, 90 minutes, to pick up some art from Chris and Engela.
Engela made a milk tart, and we scoffed it before we hit the road for the 5 hour journey back home. Joanne and I have just finished unpacking and I am sitting on the couch typing to you to see if I can get the blog out today.
Until next Sunday, or in this case Monday.
Thank you for reading.
