Richard Scott Weekly Blog - 5 July 2026

Hi guys,

It was a real work week in the studio this week. I could blame month end and the cold weather, but I won’t. It’s just that time of year when things get quiet in the art front in Cape Town and its time to produce, produce and produce.

That’s why I used to travel a lot back in the day during the winter months.

Just like last week, I didn’t even go into Cape Town this week either. I used the quiet time to get some planning done.

Monday I did catalogues and galleries.

Tuesday I did Bronzes.

Wednesday I followed up with clients and did the Lugano final touches. Richie flew to Johannesburg for a job interview with Airlink. It lasted a whole two days and he got to try their simulator. How cool is that.

Lugano, Backgammon and Ceramics all in a line.

Thursday morning was a little cold. Too cold for comfort. For the record, our winter has arrived. I managed to paste the Lugano piece with my signature on the side. I then put it by the fire to dry overnight.

 Signed.

Tiffany Blue, I love you.

Inside the Backgammon board. Not complete yet.

Friday was a great day. I got to finally finish the Lugano artwork and start the I LOVE SARDINIA piece. I did a lot of small things. Friday finish off stuff. You know, all them tiny jobs you put off all week.

Joanne and I did manage to get in lots of backgammon and rummy which was nice.

Saturday I popped out to go see Bob and borrow his bakkie. Bob is the wonderful man that helped Richie fly and also get into the flying space when Richie used to clean Bob’s hanger back in the day in exchange for the off flight with Bob at Morning Star Airfield.

Bob lent me his bakkie so I could do the hanging of the artwork at MANO’s on Sunday.

The rest of the day I spent convincing Chat GPT to make my large bronzes look better.

We did walk all the way to the river and back on the beach which took us 90 minutes.

Sunday was up early, fetch the trailer, head to MANO’s, install the artwork, head home. Joanne had a bee in her bonnet to cook chicken curry for supper. So, I helped a little. Now I am sitting by the fire typing to you and about to chill for the rest of the day.

 Prepping the wall.

 Done.

The Wagtail is back in studio.

Thanks for reading and viewing.

Last week Sunday, Joanne got us some tickets to the annual Jive Comedy Fun Festival at the Baxter Theatre. The comedians were very funny, but the Host Alan Committie was the funniest. Then we went for some late night Sushi...
