Monday I dropped Joanne off at her office and headed out to Muizenberg.
I had an appointment with Daniel who heads up the Muizenberg Beach Huts project. A while ago they raised enough money to refurbish them completely, thus, ended up completely taking them down and rebuilding them.
Daniel set up a trust to help raise money to maintain them, the most expensive part, and the trust did a lot of different projects with the wood.
I partook in an art framing project with my art prints inside frames made up from the rescued wood.
Nonetheless, I managed to secure a large amount of the wood to use in a new series similar to my Construction Series.

Cool mural on a wall in Muizenberg.

Whoaaaaaa, a garage full of gold.
After that I ran over the railway line and walked over to the New Beach Huts to have a look-see. I was super impressed; they were all brand new.

So awesome to see these tracks in use.

Muizenberg Beach, one of South Africa top Surfing spots.

The real deal. All brand new. Muizenberg Beach Huts.

My Version. In candy style.
Then I headed back to the studio again as there was too much going on. 2026 had started with a bang.

Clean Studio.

Even cleaner.

A collector is looking for a Candy Ana. This is my last one.
Joanne came home and we harvested in the vegetable garden and made a yummy tomato pasta sauce and some green juice for breakfast. We wanted to run on the beach, but we were both too tired. In hind sight we should of taken a nice long walk. We ended up doing some admin and an early night. Not much time for movies.

Richie sending me a pic of his work space.

And his office :)
Tuesday I had a studio tour with Ilios, a big tour group. Ilios want to bring regular tourists to come do the studio tour. What an honour. So cool.
The Richard Scott studio tour finally revived after the 2020 COVID hangover when it all came to a grinding halt. So it was a good job I cleaned the studio up last week.

Tuesday morning chilled "Angelina Photo". I need a haircut.
After Ilios left, I had a random couple knock on the door and I too gave them a studio tour. It didn’t last long as I had to head off and go see Mock.
Mock is the guy that has been helping Craig over the years with massage etc. So, he took one look at me and said the blood in my neck had thickened and needed to be massaged out.
After Mock I headed to pick Joanne up and we popped into Woodstock Brewery to pick up some beers and meat from Andre.
We got home to an empty house and potted around and then popped over to have a drink with Juanita, our neighbour. It was great to catch up and talk neighbour.
Then it was bed time.

Two clients sent me photos of recent works hanging up in their homes. Gold Johannesburg. Obviously in Johannesburg.

Amethyst Storm in the UK. This piece was done way back in 2004.
Wednesday, Joanne Ubered to work and I got stuck into an Auction catalogue. Frans came in nice and early and we got started with Jacques Lagrange’s Gold tree on paper.
The maids rocked up and we were all go at the Wednesday “Train Station”.
I did have a lot of catching up as it’s that time of month. So, I made a nice cup of coffee, checked in with the kids, and staff and then banking etc.
I had a client pop in for a refurb/restoration on a piece they acquired a while ago.

My dilemma. grrrrrrr

Blah, I cannot find out why the Ultramarine Blue is not printing as saturated as it use to.
And by then it was time to head off and pick Joanne up. She had an appointment at Strauss after work, but she took the time to pop into see Mrs Schneider. I sat in the canteen and caught up some more and am actually typing to you right now. Lots of older retired people around me in the canteen and makes you reflect on life and appreciate every minute as one day I will also be here.

Lunch.

A fire broke out over the road from us. Was a bit of a panic, but they got it under control.
Thursday morning, we left for town at 6am. Hendrik was with us as I had a small collection. I dropped Joanne at her office and Hendrik, and I headed to Cape Diem Lodge. Daniel recently did some renovations in his roof for an extra room and took out 100+ year old meranti wood. It was only a pleasure to help him get rid of it as I had run out of canvas for my construction series.
It’s gonna be a lot of fun creating unique artworks on these planks.
We loaded up the van and headed back to off load.

Hendrik getting started to pack the wood.

Ta Daaaaaa.

Our Second Home.

Meet Sam, he runs the show at Cape Diem Lodge and looks after us like we are royalty.

Cape Diem Lodge entrance.

Out swimming pool. Hee hee.
YOU CAN BOOK YOUR STAY HERE
I did some studio time as Joshua was looking for some cat paintings.
I then drove back into town to pick Joanne up. We headed back home via a few drop offs and cupcake pick up.
I got home to a garden covered in clean high pressured wood. Yes yes yes. Hendrik had cleaned all the wood from the Lodge.
We played cards on the deck and had an early night.
Friday Joanne worked form home and so did I. We started off with a long beach run and then got stuck into work.
I clear coated the two acrylic Gold Money Tress on paper. Andy and Fran, friends and collectors from the UK popped in for a coffee and a studio catch up. They purchased another work, the Ultra Marine Blue Tree on Paper.

Andy and Fran.

Check this out, you can see a Richard Scott from Space.

Gold Money Tree on normal 350gm Paper.

Same on TYVEK paper.
Then it was time to chill and enjoy the weekend as we were jam packed in January.
Saturday we decided to rest. We actually made the decision Friday night. No cars, only chill and games and books. I read most of the day while Joanne chilled on the couch with some magazines I bought her.
Sunday was another run on the beach. Not much work other than quick studio check and then we were off to the shops as Joanne was in need of a wardrobe upgrade and then off to Chads 27th Birthday lunch.

Family lunch gathering.
Now were back home and gonna try do nothing.
Thank you for reading.
