Richard Scott Blog - 25th January 2026

Monday I dropped Joanne off at work and went to collect the "Studio Floor" paint and headed back to the studio.

On the way to town, I gave Frans and Hendrik instructions to empty the studio for "The Spring Clean".

By the time I got home at 8.30, the studio was completely emptied.

So, we all go stuck in to painting the walls and floors and I decided to put up some new long awaited shelves for the paint.

Nando applying the first coat.

Bye Bye old floor. It is actually about 3 years now since I Spring Cleaned. That is splash paint from the Splash Vespa I did a while back.

Measure twice, cut once! My dad taught me. Prepping the shelving.

Spring clean happy look.

Blah.

The rest of the day was repacking the studio.

I will launch the Richard Scott wallets big time in 2026.

Inside View.

Tuesday was another studio day, but mostly admin as I didn’t get any done Monday.

Wednesday was a beautiful morning. I managed to coat the trees in a glossy layer to make them look bling bling.

The studio really was looking nice with the spring clean. It was nice being inside a clean neat space.

I took an hour to try resolve the printer issue I was having. I made a setting change for the magenta tree print and when I set it back it still had the dull print problem. One of them irritatingly annoying things that just eats into your time.

I rushed off at 12 to go get Joanne in town. We were going to visit Mrs Schneider  then head home.

I popped into to see the Vases and air them a little. Next week we start again.

I’m sitting here at Tamboerswinkel below Joanne’s offices sipping a cold beer waiting for her.

We popped in to Mrs Schneider for an hour. I bought us some cake from the canteen and Joanne made us a cup of tea. It was nice to see her.

After that we both had to go for X-RAYS weirdly enough. I have a tingly pain in my arm and the X-RAYS showed I have a trapped nerve in my neck from worn discs. Probably from my cycling days when you have to sit is a racing position and tackle mountains.

Jane would be proud of us. Even more tomatoes from the garden.

We have too much garlic from the garden so are trying different ways to store it. One is in oil in the fridge and the other is frozen.

Thursday I once again dropped Joanne at her office and went through to see Ruan at The Lost Wax Foundry in Strand. We discussed the details around the production of the small bronzes. Then I was off back to town. I stopped off at Woodstock Brewery to see Andre and get some beers and meat from him for Friday’s braai. I decided to sit there and do some work on the Cobra Print and Dodge Car prints. Then it was time again to pick Joanne up and head home.

Got a pic with France. He is Andre's right hand man at Woodstock Brewery.

Table Mountain from 5 stories up.

I want to make this Muizenberg artwork in a print. This is the original on Canvas and the only one I did.

Friday I got up early as I had an appointment with my brother Ben and Sean in Century City to talk about the Dubai Pop-up in April. It went well. We’re still struggling to find a cool factory type location.

See you in April.

After that home and a breakfast with Chad and Dean as Joanne had arranged a breakfast with them. I got stuck into the “printer problem" again as I hadn’t resolved it yet.

At 12.30 Danilo came over with three friends from Italy. We did a nice Crayfish braai and the traditional Boerewors and filet. The guys spent some Euros in the studio after a short tour. So now I have three new collectors in Italy.

Entertaining. I learnt how to do it from Jane and Stuart.

My Italian Besties.

Bye Bye.

The Italian’s left early as they always do and we just chilled on the couch and caught up on the week.

Saturday morning, we were up early at 6am as we had a jam packed day. We drove all the way to Greyton (two hours) to collect some art. While I was loading, Joanne popped to the Market to get some bread, cheese, honey, yogurt and some samosas for the trip back (another two hours). We made it back home by 11.30 where Hendrik helped me off load before we were off again. We had a lunch date at Marble Restaurant with Jacques, Paulo and Paul from Colmant flowing from the Somerset Hospital charity auction. Paul agreed to doing a 7star tasting of the Colmant bubbles and a copious amount of French Champagne to compare. It was truly amazing to experience. David Higgs agreed to cater for us and Wikis, the Marble Cape Town manager took very good care of us. Wikus himself is the top Sommelier in South Africa in my personal opinion.

After lunch and Champagne tasting we said our goodbyes and headed off.

Spoilt.

Cheers.

Me and my Soulmate, my best friend, love of my life and my dearest wife, Joanne. You make me so happy.

The famous King of Couture Jacques Lagrange.

After our wonderful experience, I had to drop off a set of Espresso Cups with Iris a new collector of my art. She invited us in for a drink and a catch up. Then we were off back to the Lodge as we were staying there for the night. On route I called Moritz up as he just bought himself a nice apartment in Clifton and we popped in to see him and check out his new space. It was super cool to see him and his beautiful space.

The man himself. Moritz.

Then we were off to the lodge and crashed out for the night.

Sunday we slept in a bit and enjoyed a nice breakfast on the deck by the pool. Now were sitting on our own balcony enjoy the sun while Joanne reading her book and I type to you. We are off to Paul, Joanne's brother at 11.30 as it was his 53rd birthday and he was cooking for us to celebrate his birthday with him.

So, I will sign off now and post the blog when we get back as were gonna pop into Sea Point Spar to get some yummy eats.

Thanks for reading and watching.
