Monday morning, I had a meeting with a new collector from Monaco, Florian. We had coffee and breakfast at Jasons Bakery. Florian invited me to do a show there in April. So, let’s see if we can pull that off.

Meet Florian from Monaco. My latest collector.
After Florian I popped in to see Nicola to pick up some new Pool pillows that a client in Pretoria ordered. Then it was off to John in Hout Bay to drop off a Road Sign that a client ordered.

I tried to get a photo of the majestic trees on route to Hout Bay. These are the trees that inspired me to paint trees on huge canvasses.

Richard Scott shrine at Hout Bay Gallery.

I bought two of these herb boxes from Jason, John's son to support his new little business. Contact John at Hout Bay Gallery if you want some. They are only R750 each. I sold a few to Andre at the Brewery and I need more.
Then over the neck to pop in and see Andre and then pick Joanne up and head home.

One of my five Besties. Yes I went for a haircut.

Andre gifted me one of these. It is a Belgian Quad made in Vin De Constance wine barrels. How is that even possible? It is delicious.
But first just enough time to stop and get a Zuney burger. Every time I go there, I get my meal and beer complimentary as I refer so many people to them. The lady behind the counter asked me how I do it and I tell her that I say to all my friends and new international people I meet in my studio and at meetings that they must go to Zuney Burger in Kloof Street and have the one of the best burgers in South Africa. Oh, and don’t forget to mention my name.

Got the photo for Ignatius Marx.

Last Sunday, Suzy sent me this pic as her "Daily Reminder Photo" How cool is that.

Richie sent me a photo of him celebrating his CPL and instructors renewal. Ha. Designated Flight Examiner Craig Reid, said "it was one of the best briefings he has had in a long time". Proud Dad.
Tuesday was a good studio day. Here it is in photos:

Angelina sending me her Tuesday Morning Photo at UCT.

Me sending her my one hard at work at 6am.

Wagtail is getting braver and braver in the studio.

Gold Tammy. Uses studio stencil sprayed gold and re-purposed.

All three.
Wednesday we woke up to some yummy English weather.

Too cold for a swim.
I used the opportunity to resin up the Backgammon board I am busy making.
The Box.

Resin has just set.

Ready to play. Spot the attention to detail. 3D printed Checkers with White for Mandy and Black for Ana. Same with the 12 Points. Even the dice cups are 3D printed.

Zoomed in on the checkers and Points.

Inside the dice cup.
I also found some old sticker packs for a serious Richard Scott collector in Pretoria, Jean. He was super chuffed to have them.

Found stickers for Jean.

Jean sending me a video of his sticker collection.

I found some time to print some Exhibition Posters.

New series from an old favourite.

Red, Yellow, Blue. 200 x 200cm and bought back in the day by German Collector Achim Spelling. 2007.

This is a rendering of the cut out for the new Bronze sculptures coming soon.
Thursday I spent a lot of time in the garden. Hendrik and I discovered that something had dug up the potatoes in the night, as he left the back gate open. A small stroll down to the beach on the path we discovered porcupine quills and foot prints. Ha, so we have a wild porcupine family in the bushes. On doing some research, Joanne discovered they are called Echidna. A small porcupine type animal but more on the ant eating side, and obvious delicious potatoes growing underground.

In the army in Angola, I was taught to look for what they called "Spore".

More evidence.

And even more. We didn't dare go in there :)

This is what Wikipedia says a Echidna looks like.

Angelina sending me pics of her egg pies with Spinach from our garden. Nomm Nomm.

I was looking for an old photo of the Vespa series from 2013 and found the photo of Angelina back then.
Friday was up early and prepare to do a mural for a collector in Sea Point.
Hendrik and Fran’s prepped everything while I finished off the Suzuka piece for another collector.
I headed into Sea Point on my Vespa with the team in Hendrik’s car with all the paint and kit.
It took 4 hours to complete the mural, but it was a lot of fun.

And here we go with Charly. My new assistant.

The Big 5.

Done.

Time to have some fun with Charly.

On Friday morning I got the sad news of Les Sweidan passing. Very sad news. Les was a mentor to me. We partnered on lots of projects and I will miss lunching with him at Pane Vino next to his High Road winery. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Rhoda and the children and grandchildren.

Bye Bye Les, Rest in Peace my friend.
Thank you for the opportunity to partner with you and lessons you taught me.
Joanne and I often say, "Just do a Les Sweidan". By that we mean "Minimize your risks" cos that's what Les always used to tell us.
Then it was back on the Vespa home to get ready to have a nice supper with Joanne and some friends at Ongetem at the Hilton on Kloof.
Chef Bertus Basson and Wine Maker Paul Gerber from Colmant treated us to a seven course champagne pairing dinner.
Daniel and Bianca, our friends from Cape Diem Lodge, joined us. It was great to spend time with them and eat amazing food and celebrate with Colmant.

Good time with good friends, Jaco, Bianca and Daniel.

Got the pic with my beautiful wife at Ongetem.
Joanne and I were hoping the experience would end around 9pm as we had VVIP tickets to the annual Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
We only finished around 11pm and jumped in an uber to get to the CTICC (Cape Town International Conference Centre) just in time to see Jacob Colliers perform. Yes, we took part in his performance.

Not the best pic, but we were there.

Jacob Colliers wooing the crowd on. Great performer.
We enjoyed ourselves and the VIP tickets gifted to us the week before by owner Iqbal.
Before we knew it, it was 2am and time to book an uber back to Cape Diem Lodge, where Daniel allows us to have a 2nd home. Saturday was up nice and late and breakfast and a catch up in the lounge of the lodge before heading home for a lazy couch day and two good movies, some popcorn, and an early night to balance out Friday night.
Sunday was run on beach, blog, chill and chill some more.

Morning.

Sunday morning fitness. Joanne testing the water for a swim later. Rather do a Les Sweidan Joanne.

Prego Rolls and Dad's famous crinkle cut chips. The kids were all very quiet while eating. Nomm Nomm.
Thank you for reading and viewing.
