Richard Scott Weekly Blog - 5th April 2026

Happy Easter

Sunday Sunsets and our Bougainvillea's.

Monday I managed to finish off the backgammon artwork and sign the gold stencils.

Making art and money from something I would of ordinarily thrown away.

I spent a good amount of time researching Vacuum Casting. I got a call from the foundry to say casting the small girls was not really what they do. I do realise they are complicated to cast as I remember back in 2004 when I struggled to find a foundry who could help me cast the bronze cats.

3D Printed Ana on the left in pink and the first bronze on the right. This bronze was Lost Wax Cast.

Side View.

So, Ruan at The Lost Wax Foundry suggested Vacuum Casting. It is generally used in small production like jewellery.

So, I emailed five people who do this and not one of them could help as they only deal in precious metals like gold and silver and NOT bronze.

Aimee at The Diamond Works put me in communication with Nelis and he too, along with two other people, suggested Artist Nick Bladen.

I met Nick a few years ago and got the tour of his studio and process. So, as I lie here Wednesday morning 4am typing to you I think I will pop him a message and see if he can cast for me. If not then where can I buy the machinery myself. Although do I really wanna go there.

I did do some research online, but it was too complicated to understand off the bat.

The rest of the day I tinkered in the studio waiting for Joanne to come home.

I made us a yummy early supper, and we just chilled and caught up on our day.

Tuesday was a town run. Obviously the usual SHIFT coffee and an email catch up. I force myself these days to keep my inbox empty. It is not easy with the amount of emails I get.

I paid a few suppliers and had a yummy avocado, rye and olive oil breakfast.

Then I popped to POSTNET to post a print to a client in Plettenberg Bay.

Then off the see Janet to buy more surfboard epoxy for the new Artwork I’m trying out.

Then Sean to pick up a clients framing.

Then off to see Raymond to drop his Suzuka piece I did for him.

Circular. Re-inventing a 2025 Formula 1 Suzuka programme.

Then Henry in Sea Point to drop off gold stencils. I hung around for a while chatting to Jean and Maeve. I also checked in on my email on my laptop and made sure my inbox was empty.

Then I popped to see Andre and use his Wi-Fi to do a new brochure on the Richard Scott Studio tours.

I had about 2 hours and got it done.

Then it was time to pick Joanne up and head home for an early supper on the deck and a few rounds of cards.

Joanne finally winning with Suits only :)

Believe it or not we were both in bed at 8pm.

Wednesday I experimented with some resin and mini 3D prints Richie did for me. I was a little nervous as the stuff is so expansive. The resin takes two hours to cure.

Prepping the new resin/3D print artwork.

The Epoxy comes in two parts that you mix together. It takes 2 hours to harden.

First I layer the thin 3D prints and then pour the epoxy over. This one is a test in a margarine tub.

Two hours later.

I also did two new road sign for Nick and IN-FIN art. We go way back to the start of my career in 2002.

I made some yummy tomato sauce from all the tomatoes in the garden. We have so many, we are now freezing the sauce as well.

The start of Joannes famous tomato pasta sauce.

After, just before the blending.

Angelina popped in to do a bit of DIY hobby stuff. It was good to see her. Joanne came home and made us all a yummy bolognaise sauce with lentils. It was delicious. I had some for supper.

We played cards on the deck as it was nice and warm and then chilled and watched a good movie.

I took the opportunity to photograph this Gold Money Tree on TYVEK.

Thursday morning at around 12.30am the thunder and lightning started. There was a bolt that struck the house directly. Joanne and I literally jumped out of bed. I have never heard such a loud bang before. It took me a good hour to calm down and go back to sleep. The rain was nice on the tin roof as it rained until we woke up at 6am.

I drove into town as I had a few errands to run.

Meet Nick from IN-FIN, We go way back.

Screen grab of the three Road Signs dropped off.

Joanne got off early as its Easter weekend. That was nice. We headed straight home to have a nice long relaxing weekend.

Angelina came for supper with three of her friends which was nice. Joanne made lentil bolognaise and it went down well.

Taking over the world one ski at a time.

And surfboards as well.

Spotted this post from casadenera.

Angelina sent me this of a friend who uses my art as their profile pic. So cool.

Daily Diary doodles.

Friday was Easter and we did nothing but read books, play cards and research Milan, Venice, Lugano and Sardinia.

We did start the day off with a goal, run on the beach for four days in a row.

Saturday was up late, run on the beach, pop out to get some lamb for Sunday and then we headed out to Bella, where Joanne was having her family birthday lunch.

Nomm Nomm, Candice, Paul, Joanne, Me, Amy, Chad, Ian, Dean and Danella.

We shared the signature piece, Papa's Meatball Pizza. We don't often eat Pizza, but when in Rome.

Danilo sent me a photo of a beautiful Yellow piece at his friend's house Stefano and Gio on lake Orta.

Sunday was a repeat of Saturday; sleep late, run on the beach, catch up with family, read books, play cards and chill.

Thank you for reading and viewing.
